MILLICENT The jealousy was thicker than any perfume. Girls I’d never spoken to were suddenly smiling at me, giggling, brushing my arm as they passed. Some even stopped me, pretending to care about my weekend, about my classes, but I saw the hunger in their eyes. They wanted me to slip up, to spill secrets, to hand them pieces of the fantasy they were building in their heads.
