ZAYNE The light leaking through Milicent’s curtains was weak, the kind of Saturday morning sun that felt like it was sneaking past a closed door. I’d been awake for a while, just lying there with her hair fanned across my chest like spilled ink. Xander’s side of the bed was already cold, he always had the talent for waking up early and sneaking out. Milicent was a mess of tangled sheets and her lips were parted the slightest bit. She had no idea what she did to me just by existing like this. I traced the air an inch above her cheek, not daring to touch because she looked too peaceful.
