“You should be careful of the twins,” Fiona warned, finally able to get my attention as I paused in my tracks and turned to face her. She looked at me timidly before flickering her gaze away. I threw a curious stare at her, “What do you mean?” I questioned, my brows drawing close together. “The twins?” She inquired. “Yes, the twins. What about them? Why should I be careful of them?” I asked, my eyes studying her while her eyes did a little squint. She looked unsure whether to answer or not. Well, she should since she came to warn me about them. Fiona sighed and heaved deeply. She fluttered her eyes at me. “They play girls for fun and bet on them. I fear you are their next target,” she revealed. I scrunched up my face. Well, I kind of knew that. Who wouldn't be alarmed when two hot guys suddenly started swooning around you? Telling me, I should be delighted that they were giving me their attention like I'd asked for it in the first place. It looked scheming and whatever they were plotting for me, sorry, to say, but I'm not much of an easy target. Then her… I looked at her curiously. “Why are you telling me this?” I c****d my head at her, wondering why she would go out of her way to tell me about this. I knew there was something fishy about the twins and the reason they've been all over me—it was certainly nothing good. “Well, uhm, I-I…" she stuttered. I arched a brow at her. “I thought you should know, I don't want you falling for their trap,” she muttered. “Mm, I will think about that,” I told her, and she flickered her eyes at me bewildered. I turned to leave. “Wait!” She touched my hand and I glanced over my shoulder with a raised brow, and she withdrew her hands away nervously. “I was thinking we could be friends,” she managed to say. “Oh,” was all I said. “You seem cool,” she added. “And I love the way you stood up against that Sandra b***h… finally, someone has to put her in the place she deserves,” she remarked. “You have a thing for her?” I inquired and she shrugged her shoulders. “Well, we’re cousins, and she doesn’t treat me very nicely,” she griped. I nodded. “I see.” “So what do you say?” She looked at me with hopeful eyes. Having a friend wouldn't be bad since she looked like less trouble, more of a nerdy vibe, and calm. But the p-factor was that she was Sandra’s cousin, and I didn’t want any trouble with that mean b***h if I associate myself with her. “Uhm…" My face squeezed slightly, then I went tight-lipped. I was still contemplating. She looked as if she had been longing for someone to be friends with her. She’s probably gotten lots of rejection from people because of who her cousin was. She stretched her left hand to me for a handshake, and my eyes fluttered to her tender-looking hand. My eyes reverted to her gleaming ones and I shook her hand, accepting her friendship proposal, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips. “So, is that a yes?” Her voice sounded elated and happy. “A consideration,” I said to her. She nodded, pressing her lips together into a tight smile she was trying to hide. “Okay,” she beamed. “So…” she slurred. “Do you want us to hang out and uh… maybe celebrate the beginning of our friendship together?” She questioned. My eyes glinted at her. “I don’t think that would be necessary at the moment, I have stuff to do,” I declined politely. “Oh,” her face dropped, but she gave a small smile regardless. “Then later?” She scratched her nose. “Yeah, catch you up later.” Or not. I thought in my mind. I turned to leave, but before I did that, I thanked her. “Thanks for the heads-up about the twins.” I walked away, not bothering to listen to a response from her. The next day, I was at the school library. I stood between the shelves while I flipped the pages of a book in my hands, 'The Lunar Lexicon'. I was trying to look for reasons why I hadn't gotten a wolf yet, but none of these books I've opened for a while since I've been in the library were of relevance. I sighed, closing the book shut, and placed it back properly where I'd picked it. I took a few steps forward, and this time I was looking for a textbook that would aid the research I was given in one of my assignments in class. The library was eerily quiet. Only a few students were around, studying diligently. Even if I was all about perfecting my fighting skills to a serious equitable level, I still needed to work on my academic grades. That way, I could graduate as one of the best-produced Luna from the school. I'm sure that Father would be proud. Suddenly, my instincts kicked in. It was as if someone had been watching me—staring at me for a while, that I could feel their eyes burning at the back of my head. I was cautioned, closing the book in my hands, and tried to walk out from between the shelves I'd been in. Someone grabbed my hand, pulling me back. My back hit the shelf and my eyes widened as I looked up. I gasped. It was Zayne! His stormy gray eyes were heavy on me and I opened my mouth to talk, but he raised his arm, using his palm to cover my mouth, and my words were muffled. He leaned closer, a smirk beginning to curl at the end of his lips. Between him and his annoying twin, I didn't know who was crazier. He looked quiet, but I'm pretty sure he was the most dangerous. “Shhh… we are in the library.”
