Chapter 1: Jacob Styles' Murder

1150 Words
The school was eeriely quiet. All that could be heard was the whispers of the students as they talked about the latest event, the murder of Jacob Styles. Other than that, the school was filled with an utter silence, for fear thatthey would be targeted next. Who would dare go against Jacob? He was the biggest bully in school. Perhaps the murderer was someone who had a grudge against him. Now Jacob wouldn't be called the "biggest" just by chance, would he? Jacob had placed fear in nearly everyone of Oakwood High School's hearts. Lots had been rumored to have committed suicide due to not being able to endure the pain. He broke a lot of hearts, minds as well. Boys were furious because of how they couldn't get the girls, yet there he was, breaking each and every female's hearts. He was that bad. The bad thing was that he was rich, so he was always let off the hook. He could do almost everything that he wanted. He had loads of connections. The thought of someone killing him definitely was something to be afraid of. Jacob was strong and powerful, so if the murderer could someone like him, he/she could really kill anyone. That sent all of them on the edge, including the teachers and the principal. You never know whether or not you are next.  If we tackled on about who were the potential suspects however, the list would be endless. The girls, the bullied, not to mention his parents' enemies and people who wanted to take their family's power. Anyone could be a potential suspect.  There was one student in particular who wasn't that fazed. Sure, he was suprised, but shrugged it off. 'He deserved it anyway.' the guy thought as he made his way to his first period. This particular guy wasn't into gossip. He didn't give a damn and he hated how loud people were when talking. Do you know the feeling where you need to get to your locker but first you need to go past a swarm of bee-like people. There voices were like a buzzing ring in his ears. He was partially glad that an event caused them to be quiet for at least a day. Some peace and quiet was definitely something he always loved. He wasn't heartless, it was just the fact that everyone were as loud as sirens, and that Jacob broke his friend's heart. You saw that right. He might look colder than ice, but he loved his friends a lot. He valued them for, in his eyes, they were his second family. That was no joke.  As soon as he reached his seat, he sat down and plugged in his earphones. Placing them in his ear, he drowned himself in the current song as he mindlessly drew on one of his notebooks. His time in his own world was interrupted however, when someone took out his left side earphone. It was his friend, Abby. "Felix, have you heard the news?" She asked, one hand lied flat on his desk table, the other held his earphone. "What news?" The boy said blankly as he continued to scribble on his notebook. Abby nearly facepalmed at her friend's lack of life updates. "You know, the one about Jacob." Felix nodded slowly before replying, "Oh, that."  "Do you have any idea who could have killed him? I mean it could be anyone. It could be Mrs. Harris who he insulted, or Matt, I mean Jia did leave Matt for Jacob after all. It could definitely be any--" she cut herself off when she saw how Felix was DEFINITELY not paying attention. She nudged him making him look at her. He only blinked twice, waiting for her reason as to why she interrupted him yet again. "You weren't listening to me, were you?" She asked. He shook his head, making her sigh exasperatedly. "Aren't you even the slightest curious or scared that the murderer could even possibly be our classmate?" She questioned. "Must I really feel at least one among those two emotions?" He went back to scribbling aimlessly. Abby took his pen from his hand. Felix sighed and looked at her again. "Give that back, Abby." He said calmly but his voice held a slight warning. She shook her head. "Abby Sanders" he said, firmer this time. "Look dude, you can't possibly be a rock your whole life. Live a little." She said, joking lightly. He only took his pen, along with his neglected earphone, and went back to his own business. Placing the earphone back in his ear, he ignored Abby's whole being. The girl could only sigh as she made her way back to her own desk. Felix wasn't always like this. He used to be happier. One day however, everything changed, leading to him becoming a different person. They sometimes joked about him being a rock because of his coldness and emotionless self. The jokes stopped until there, though. Ever since he changed, they hadn't joked around him as much. The tension of his change, at first, was very thick, but as time flew by, it became a bit less. Lots of girls actually confessed to him. Somehow, his dark and mysterious personality attracted a lot of girls. However, each time someone confessed, he would tell them straight in the face that he didn't like them. At least it was better than leading them on. Abby could remember seeing girls who were led on by Jacob Styles. She sighed. She knew that, despite Jacob being a complete ass, he didn't deserve what happened to him, he was still human after all. The bell suddenly rang, signalling the start of first period. With the teacher always being late, the students continued to stay with their friends for a bit until she arrived. They took out their notebooks as soon as they saw her. She had slightly puffy eyes, most likely from crying. With a nasal voice, she greeted the class a good morning. The students greeted her in return as they stood up and sat back down. The teacher, Mrs. Atkinson sat on her seat, looking depressed. "As you all know, Jacob Styles, passed away yesterday at around 6 pm." She said with a sniff. "The boy didn't deserve that. H-he was so-so young. He was a g-great kid." She sobbed loudly and stood up. "I-I'm sorry class but I don't think I'll be able to lecture you today. Proceed with y-your personal activities." With that, she left the classroom in a hurry. Abby couldn't blame her. Jacob was her nephew. Perhaps he was nice to his family, because if a random student told her that Jacob Styles had been nice to them, she would definitely spit all the water in her mouth. That was, if she had some. 'I hope we won't end up with no classes due to this.' she said mentally and decided to pkay some games on her phone.
