“They got their blood and Ezra’s food for the evening and so far so good,” Cassidy said as Jewel and Briar approached.
“Good. I was a little worried that Heskel or one of the others would try to slip out when Ezra brought the food in,” Jewel replied.
“I don’t think even Heskel would be that stupid,” Briar said. “But then again.”
Cassidy and Jewel both chuckled.
“Any word from…” Jewel asked as he gave Briar a pointed look and wiggled his eyebrows.
“Nothing yet. So I’m hoping that no news is good news, you know?”
