The academy erupted into chaos as thousands of shadow soldiers poured through the shattered gates. Students and teachers fought desperately, but the enemy seemed endless. Lightning flashed across the battlefield as Hitachi cut through wave after wave of monsters, searching for the mysterious traitor.
"You..." he whispered as the hooded Guardian lowered the cloak.
It was Master Orion.
The old Guardian looked down in shame.
"I never wanted this," Orion said quietly. "Years ago, the Shadow King promised to spare humanity if I surrendered the Sky Crystals. I believed him. I was wrong."
Before Hitachi could respond, the Shadow King himself appeared above the academy, surrounded by swirling darkness.
"You have served your purpose, Orion."
With a single wave of his hand, a spear of black energy pierced Orion's chest.
The old master fell into Hitachi's arms.
"Courage," Orion whispered. "A true Guardian protects others... even at the cost of everything."
His staff began to glow before dissolving into countless golden particles that entered Hitachi's body. A surge of energy rushed through him, making his lightning brighter than ever.
The Shadow King laughed.
"Now come, Storm Guardian. Face your destiny."
The battlefield fell silent.
Hitachi looked at his friends.
Kai stepped forward, flames dancing around his fists.
"We fight together."
Aiko smiled confidently.
"We finish this together."
Mira nodded.
"No matter what."
The four Guardians charged.
Kai's blazing sword clashed with the first Crimson General, surrounding the battlefield with walls of fire. Aiko trapped the second General inside a giant tornado, while Mira unleashed a massive water dragon against the third. Hitachi faced the strongest General, a towering warrior wielding a spear of pure darkness.
Their weapons collided again and again, shaking the mountains.
The General was stronger, faster, and far more experienced.
Hitachi was forced backward.
"You cannot defeat me," the General sneered.
"I don't have to do it alone," Hitachi replied.
Kai, Aiko, and Mira appeared beside him. Combining their powers, they unleashed a devastating attack that finally destroyed the Crimson General. At the same time, the other three Generals fell.
The Shadow King's smile disappeared.
"So... you truly have become Guardians."
He raised both hands.
The sky turned black.
A massive portal opened above the academy, and from it descended a gigantic dragon made entirely of darkness. Its roar shook the entire continent.
The Guardians attacked together, but every strike passed harmlessly through the beast.
"It feeds on darkness," Mira realized.
Hitachi closed his eyes.
He remembered Orion's final words.
A Guardian protects.
Not for glory.
Not for revenge.
For hope.
Suddenly, the second Sky Crystal glowed.
A beam of blue light shot into the heavens.
Far across the world, the remaining hidden Sky Crystals answered the call. Their power flowed toward Hitachi, surrounding him in brilliant light.
Lightning exploded around his body.
His armor transformed into shining silver and blue, covered in glowing symbols. Great wings of pure electricity spread across the sky behind him.
"The Storm Dragon Form..." Aiko whispered.
Hitachi felt limitless energy flowing through him.
The dragon of darkness charged.
Hitachi flew directly toward it.
With one swing of his sword, a river of lightning split the dragon in half.
The creature dissolved into harmless light.
The Shadow King's expression changed for the first time.
Fear.
"You have mastered the Sky Core..."
He unleashed every ounce of darkness he possessed, creating a gigantic sphere capable of destroying the academy.
Hitachi answered by lifting his sword toward the heavens.
Storm clouds covered the world.
Every lightning bolt in the sky gathered above him.
"This ends now."
"Final Judgment!"
A beam of brilliant blue lightning crashed downward, colliding with the Shadow King's attack. For several seconds, light and darkness struggled against one another.
Then the darkness shattered.
The beam struck the Shadow King directly.
His armor cracked.
His throne of shadows collapsed.
"No..." he shouted.
"This is impossible!"
His body dissolved into thousands of black fragments before disappearing forever.
Silence followed.
The portals across Earth closed one by one.
The remaining monsters vanished.
Morning sunlight finally broke through the clouds.
People slowly emerged from their homes to see the Guardians standing together on the academy steps.
The war was over.
Weeks later, Arcanis began to rebuild. Streets filled with life once more, and children laughed without fear. The names of the four Guardians became legends, though their true identities remained secret.
One evening, Hitachi returned to the old watchtower where everything had begun.
His grandfather joined him.
"You've changed," the old man said with a smile.
Hitachi looked toward the peaceful city.
"I've learned that power isn't about being the strongest."
"It's about protecting the people who can't protect themselves."
His grandfather nodded proudly.
"Then you've become the Guardian the world needed."
As the sun disappeared beyond the mountains, a single bolt of blue lightning crossed the sky.
Hitachi smiled.
He knew new adventures would one day come.
But until that day arrived, Earth was safe.
And as long as storms filled the heavens, the legend of the Storm Guardian would never fade.
