Light illuminated through the window, gently warming Alice’s face. Songbirds could be heard singing and chirping outside. Alice lay in bed still realizing it all had been just a dream and it had been brought on by her flight and being in a new place. She slowly and lazily sat up in bed with a yawn. That seemed so extremely real. She thought as she slid herself off the bed and her feet touched the cool wooden floor. Her bags were still sitting on the floor next to the bed waiting for her to get dressed. Alice grabbed one and threw it on the bed with a bounce and rummaged through looking for a suitable outfit for the day. The weather would be a mild temperature with the chance of drizzle. Of course, that was the average weather in this area. „Good morning!!!“ exclaimed a woman as she burst through the door, startling Alice and nearly causing her to fall over. „I’m Marcella. I’m so sorry I was unable to pick you up yesterday. I hope everything is to your liking. I’m glad you are here“ she said. Marcella was a lovely woman with black waist-length hair and a bronze skintone. She clearly goes to the tanning booth. Thought Alice. Unlike her brother, she had copper eyes that had golden flecks in them. As well as a bubbly, energetic personality, the complete opposite of her brothers' cold, cunning and ruthless persona. “You don’t seem to have a lot of clothing, Alice?” Questioned Marcella. Alice looked down at her luggage and the clothing that was now scattered on the bed and blushed. She didn’t have the time to pack to move due to her mother's insisting that it had to be immediately done. Thinking back to the last week with her mother, things became strange in her behavior. She was ranting about a lot of crazy things like wolfs, blood moons, and curses. She was seeing things saying they were going to come for her and Alice and that neither of them were safe. She kept herself locked in a room and wouldn’t eat or bathe for days. Alice just attributed her new behaviors as undiagnosed Schizophrenia and begged her mother to seek help. Within a few days, Alice had tickets and was on the plane headed to Seattle. Her mother's delusional thoughts led to her having nothing now. “Let’s go get you some clothes “ Marcella gasped as she grabbed Alice’s wrist. “I don’t have…… any money…. I can’t afford anything right now” stammered Alice as she was being dragged down the hall to the stairs. “Oh, well, in that case you will owe me then. Our budget today is $100,000. Don’t go crazy. I can’t have you owing me too much.” Marcella jokingly winked at her. Alice thought she heard $100,000 as the spending limit but brushed it aside and assumed she might have said $100 instead. Matthew was standing outside speaking to another man in a black suit and tie. The man seemed to be working for him or with him. Their body language made it clear that Matthew was in charge. With a nod, the man got into a black BMW car and drove away. Matthew turned and saw the two girls walking towards him. Marcella, jingling keys in her hand and giggling, said “We are off to go spend some money and get this girl some fresh clothing. She looks like a wolf dragged her in and dropped her off” Alice thought that was a weird metaphor and had a flash back to her dream the night before of the black wolf dog with crystal blue eyes that was licking her blood from the ground. A small gasp caught inside her throat at the thought. Matthew and Marcella both turned and looked at her with puzzled faces. Alice gently blushed and apologized pushing the thought from her mind. “All right let’s get going, the day doesn’t last forever.” Said Marcella as she climbed up into the waiting black Lexus SUV. Alice looked at Matthew with a shy smile and turned to get in the SUV as well. Matthew watched the vehicle leave down the driveway, then turned to go inside. The way she looked at him was the most desirable and he could not explain it to himself. He was a strong, capable leader of the family who, just at 24 was not a force to be reckoned with. He was indifferent to everyone, but inside he wanted to be with her. I don’t even know this girl, he thought to himself as he opened the door to the house. The only thing I know is that the gods wanted me to meet her. He continued.
