Aiden Vasilis didn’t flinch at the sight of blood.
He was born into violence. Raised in shadows. Molded by betrayal. While other boys learned to tie ties and talk politely, Aiden was being taught how to break bones without leaving bruises. How to kill a man slowly, and make it look like mercy.
At 14, he ordered his first execution.
At 17, he became the youngest boss in his family’s history.
At 23, he owned half the city's underground.
Now at 28, he was both feared and respected—CEO of Vasilis Enterprises by day, and the ruthless mafia king by night. His suits were always clean, his records spotless. But beneath the tailored perfection was a monster with no soul left to lose.
Or so he thought.
---
He stood at the top of a warehouse, watching his men beat a traitor within an inch of his life.
The man had tried to sell classified trade routes to their enemies.
“Pathetic,” Aiden muttered.
He moved closer, his polished shoes clicking against the concrete, slow and controlled. He crouched beside the bleeding man, tilting his head with that eerie calm.
“I don’t care why you did it,” Aiden whispered. “I care that you thought I wouldn’t find out.”
The man sobbed, begging, spitting blood.
Aiden stared at him for a moment. Then drove a knife into his leg without changing expression.
“You scream like a child,” he said coldly. “Next time, bleed with dignity.”
---
Back in his bulletproof car, Lucas glanced at him from the driver’s seat.
“Want me to clean up?”
“Burn the place. Make it look like a drug raid,” Aiden said.
Lucas didn’t ask why. He never did. He was one of the few who’d seen Aiden kill with his bare hands and wipe his bloodied palms on a silk handkerchief like nothing happened.
---
And yet… hours later, that same killer sat in his penthouse office, staring at the feed of a girl drawing sunflowers on her windowpane with a marker.
Elara.
She was wearing an oversized hoodie, socks up to her knees, her hair in a messy bun. She hummed something too soft for the camera to pick up. Her smile made the room feel brighter—even through a screen.
Aiden leaned back, eyes dark, heart… unsettled.
He had killed a man hours ago without blinking. But one smile from her twisted something inside him. Something foreign. Something he had long buried.
Softness.
And softness was dangerous in his world.
---
He turned off the feed abruptly, running a hand through his dark hair. His reflection in the glass stared back—sharp, cold, hollow.
What the hell was happening to him?
He couldn’t sleep anymore. Couldn’t think straight when she came to mind. Couldn’t tolerate the idea of anyone looking at her the way he did.
A few days ago, he’d seen a guy approach her at the park. Elara had smiled—polite, nothing more—but Aiden saw red.
He’d tracked the guy down within the hour.
His men thought it was business.
But no. It was personal.
“I want him gone,” Aiden had said. “Scare him. Break something he’ll remember.”
And they did.
Because Elara Winters belonged to him. Even if she didn’t know it yet.
---
That night, he opened a drawer beneath his desk.
Inside lay a delicate silver bracelet. Custom-made. Her favorite color. Engraved with a quote she’d once posted on a forgotten art forum.
He hadn’t given it to her yet.
He wouldn’t.
Not until she was his.
But he stared at it like a prayer.
---
He was spiraling. And he knew it.
He’d kept walls up his entire life.
But she was light. Innocent. Unaware of monsters like him.
She should have terrified him.
Instead, she became his obsession.
And if anyone dared to touch her—he would destroy them. Burn cities. Kill without hesitation.
Because Elara Winters wasn’t a want anymore.
She was a need.
---
Final lines of Chapter Four:
Aiden Vasilis didn’t know how to love.
But obsession? Possession? He was born for it.
And soon, Elara would belong to him.
Even if he had to drag her into the dark to keep her there.
