The quiet was a blessing. Vowing not to work this vacation, she hadn’t brought even one tiny piece of work to do. Such enforced time off meant she’d probably read a novel that evening. It wasn’t such a bad idea. Keith would have been a better idea, but this one would suffice. At least she had the satisfaction of knowing that this boyfriend couldn’t easily escape, and he couldn’t fire her, and it looked as if he was madly in love with her. Deciding to go out to dinner before she cozied in for the night, she dressed again in her heavy winter clothes, and put on her parka.
