It became the most restless week of Bryan’s life, getting Paige back, and losing her in a matter of days to another life. Was it fair? Was it fair that she was starting to do exactly what she really wanted to, while he remained uncertain of his own life?
She had nothing, no ties, no obligations and few possessions; so a move to Monterey was as simple as climbing in her car. He envied her that freedom. With a debt, a business and an all too stuffy bachelor house, the obligations of the life he’d worked so avidly to create were burdening. He wanted to walk away from everything and never turn back. He wasn’t sure what kind of courage it took to do that, but he was sure he didn’t have it.
