Chapter Twenty-One
Isabella Marie was born that evening just after five hours of labor, weighing eight pounds, four ounces. She was a big girl, and both Taz and baby were doing well. An easy labor, according to Jerry. Scarlett wondered what her sister would say.
Her parents had arrived a few hours ago, surprising Scarlett where she’d fallen asleep in the waiting room.
Emmett had already undergone liver surgery and, after doing his part, was resting comfortably in his room. That was what Peg had said when she’d come down. As soon as he was back in his room, Scarlett could go up and be with him.
“So you’ve been waiting here this entire time?” her dad asked as her mom sat across from her.
“Kind of had to, since I wouldn’t know how to get past all that security at Taz and Jerry’s.”
