My heart raced as Mona’s body collapsed against mine. At first, I thought it was just her exhaustion catching up to her, but then I felt the dampness on her skin. Sweat. Her body was burning up, trembling against me in a way that sent a cold shiver through my spine.
I moved quickly, my hands gripping her shoulders, steadying her as panic surged within me. Her breaths came in sharp, shallow gasps, and I noticed her skin growing pale, a strange rigidity starting to seize her limbs.
