Chapter fifty-one

1814 Words
JESS’S POINT OF VIEW I was in my Zen room meditating and practicing my element's power. I was using the water from the mini fountain in here and made a mini whirlpool. I was very proud of myself I knew I was getting better at controlling my powers, although it was still just small things that I was doing. I knew that if I was going to be in this war then I had to get better and bigger. Peter’s wolf gained another foot in height and ended up being as fast as Lycan and just as strong when he and Layla marked each other. So, during training, he actually has to work on his own during sparring and because he was my personal guard and protector he is always with me when I go out of the packhouse if I wasn’t with Lewis. “Hey. Come into my Zen room!” I mind-linked Lewis. “I’m on my way, Kitten. Everything okay?” “Fine, I just want to show you something.” He entered the room a few minutes later. He looked around and saw the mini whirlpool. His face broke out into a wide grin. “That is pretty f*****g cool!” he said. He came up to me and scooped me up picking me up and spinning. I squeaked and lost my concentration making the whirlpool splash to the floor at our feet. “Look what you made me do!” I said in mock annoyance slapping his shoulder. “Kitten it’s just water it can be cleaned up.” He said kissing me. It was morning now and Andrew and Henry are meant to be here at some point. I decided to take the opportunity to watch the boys spar. Lily, Leah, and Layla came with me this time and we decided we would do some yoga. We found a nice soft patch of grass where we could still see the boys. When we were doing our stretches, I saw that Peter had tied a mattress to a tree near the forest line as he was too strong and needed to learn to control his strength before he spared with actual people in case he actually hurt them. He was hitting it like a boxer would a punching bag and I’m not going to lie it was very attractive to see them all hot and sweaty. I looked around at the trees and saw they still didn’t have any leaves and that gave me an idea. I walked over to the nearest tree and put my hand on the trunk; I closed my eyes and focused on the feeling of it under my hand. I pictured the leaves sprouting out from it and I willed it to happen. I heard some gasps and mummers behind me and when I opened my eye I looked and found I had done it. The tree had beautiful green leaves all over it. I smiled up at it and turned around to see Lewis coming to me and he did exactly what he did in my Zen room yesterday. I laughed as he spun me round, he put me down and kissed me. "Come on, Andrew and Henry have just turned up." He tells me, with that, we decided to walk back to the kitchen. “I must say, Mrs. Johnson, you do make some great sandwiches,” Andrew said taking a bite. Henry just nodded his mouth full of his sandwiches. He and Henry arrived a little after breakfast and because they ran here again but this time used the front gate, Mrs. Johnson pre-made them both some sandwiches when we got word that they entered through the gates. Mrs. Johnson just smiled and giggled at his remark. “Hey Bro how are you doing?” Peter asked walking in with Layla. Andrew looked up and went over to them saying “There’s my favourite person.” He said and engulfed Layla in a bear hug. Peter looked fairly hurt by this; Andrew got attached to Layla because he saw how happy she made Peter “How is my nephew?” he asked pulling away. “Andrew, we don’t know what they are going to be yet. We’re having a gender reveal party next month of course you're invited.” She said smiling. Andrew looked pretty shocked though. “They? As in more than one?” he said looking between the two of them. I continued to eat in silence with Henry just watching this bit of drama which is very entertaining. Layla looked up at Peter who had gone a bit pink and looked highly awkward. “Ummm…. I may have forgotten to tell him after the scan that we were expecting twins.” He said as he rubbed his neck. Layla slapped his chest playfully. “And people say I forget things.” She says rolling her eyes. Andrew went to hit his brother but instead, Peter moved too quickly for him. Causing Andrew to lose his balance and stumble a bit. “Damn it! It’s annoying when you use your new powers.” Andrew says turning to face Peter who is now on the other side of Kitchen Island. Me and Henry just burst out laughing and soon everyone else joins in, even Mrs. Johnson joined in. “How can you forget to tell your own brother that you’re expecting twins?” I ask Peter once I’ve calmed down from laughing. He just shrugged his shoulders and shook his head holding his hands up, meaning he had no idea. Andrew just went up to him and put him mockingly in a headlock ruffing his hair up. “Just means I get more nephews to spoil.” He says letting Peter go. Andrew went back to his food and we all just sat and talked. After some time, Lewis came into the kitchen after doing some work in his office. He greeted Andrew and Henry in their usual guy way. “Where’s Rowan?” Henry asks. “He is on a job looking into a couple of missing person cases,” Lewis says. “He should be back tomorrow.” “Alpha, I overheard something from some other guards that I think will be of some interest to you,” Andrew said and suddenly the atmosphere changed. “My office now,” Lewis says, and we all walk up to his office and take our seats. Lewis looked at Andrew indicating for him to continue and tell us what he needs to say. “I overheard them talking to each other a couple of days ago about some Warlock that came to their friends and families pack that live overseas, searching for a she-wolf with purple fur,” Andrew says getting straight to the point. “When I asked them for more details about it all they said was that he apparently would storm off whenever he could not find her and that he appears to be traveling east of Europe and last they knew he was in Le Pack Lune Noire or the Black Moon Pack in the south of France.” Henry rounded off. We all just sat in silence for a few moments contemplating it all. I didn’t know what to even think right now. The fact that he was getting closer even if he was still a couple of hundred miles away made my skin crawl. I shivered a bit, and Lewis put his arms around me a bit tighter. “How did he know what her wolf looks like?” Peter asked holding Layla’s hand in the armchair next to his. “He might have a copy of the prophecy?” Kane says. “He might get visions or something?” Suggested Leah. “Or we might have someone giving him information in the pack?” I said glumly. Everyone looked at me shocked as though the Meir thought was impossible. “What makes you say that?” Lewis says looking at me. “I was just thinking because Rebecca hasn’t been seen since she left that day she assaulted me,” I say, and everyone just looks at each other. “If that was true, wouldn’t he be here by now or something?” asked Lily. We just sat and thought for a few minutes. Trying to think of a way to avoid an all-out war. Trying to think of a way to know what the warlock was thinking. To find out what he knew. I looked around the room and saw that everyone I loved was there and I thought of what might happen if Balthazar found, would he spare innocents. What about the pups, the women, the elderly, and the men everyone has no idea what is going on. Everyone who doesn’t want to be part of this. I thought of Layla’s pups that would be born in four months. Would they be safe? Would anyone be safe? “Hey. Kitten, you okay?” Lewis said tenderly looking at me with worried eyes. I turned to face him, and his hands came up and wiped my cheeks. I didn’t even know that I had started crying. He cupped my face, and I leaned into his hand and kissed his palm. He let a small smile play across his face. He kissed me gently and I was grateful for the amount of love that I felt in this small moment. “If he does get here, we won’t let him get you we promise,” Peter said determinately, and Kane and Angelo nodded in agreement. “It’s not that, Peter. I was just thinking about how it would be if I wasn’t this special wolf. If.. maybe….” I paused, took a breath to will myself to continue. “If I were to just leave…” The silence that followed was deafening. It was so loud you would hardly believe it was silence at all. Everyone looked at taking in what I had actually said. A moment passed and Layla had tears down her cheeks. Lily and Leah had unshed tears in their eyes. “You can’t actually be serious?” Angelo said in complete shock trying to make himself believe I was joking. “Luna, you can’t just leave think of everything, and everyone would miss you,” Kane said in a slightly broken voice. “Jesse, even if you did leave nothing would change. You would still be the prophecy wolf; Balthazar would still be after you. You are safer here with the pack than you would be on your own.” Peter said matter-of-factly. “You are not leaving!” Lewis said. I looked at him and saw he was trying not to cry himself, but he was shaking slightly. Was he angry with me that I mentioned leaving him?
