Chapter forty-eight

946 Words
LEWIS’S POINT OF VIEW I was in Kane’s room getting in my suit. I had left the bedroom bright and early this morning because it’s bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other on the day of the wedding before the ceremony. Technically that would have started at midnight, but we haven’t been apart for a whole night before, so we decided that it would start when the first person woke up. In this case, it was me because Leo was brimming with excitement. I left rose petals scattered on the bed for Jess and a little present. We went out for a run while to burn some energy. When I got back from the run, the packhouse seemed like it was in utter chaos. People were running around with tables, chairs, flowers, plates of food, buckets of ice, and drinks. I really never thought of what went into a wedding. I was just too excited to make Jess my wife, that’s really all I cared about. I felt a little bit guilty now because ever since I told Jess the date, she has been nothing but frazzled and I kept telling her to calm down and relax. I was just pinning the stem of lavender to my lapel, apparently, it was meant to bring good fortune. I chose Kane as my best man, Angelo, Peter, Henry was my groomsmen. I had to have the same amount as Jess did bridesmaids so they could pair up, but luckily, they were all mates to each other anyway so that was a good thing. My best friend from college was in here getting ready as well. John was tall, built like a brick house almost, he was the star rugby player in school, while I was better at wrestling. His brown hair was tied back in a man bun, and he had stubble, flecked with orange. I was surprised when he turned up dressed as a stripper the other night, but I was so glad he could get here for my wedding. He took the time off from his pack; he was the Bata of the rainforest pack. It was greener than my pack, it was smaller but as most of the pack was made out of Lycans they didn’t need the extra numbers. I turned to see all the guys, ready and waiting for me. “You ready, boss?” asks Angelo. “Yup,” I say. “You sure?” Kane says raising an eyebrow. “Why?” I start to feel a little panicked, everything needed to go perfect today. The guys just looked me up and down; I followed their eyes and noticed I hadn’t put my tie on. Oh. I looked for it where I had put my suit when I came into the room, but I couldn’t find it. I felt even more panicked now. I turned to the guys in the room. “Where the f**k is my tie?!” I shout in my Alpha voice, making them flinch. “We’ll find it, don’t worry, Alpha,” John says, even though I am not his Alpha, I still outrank him. They start looking all over the room. When they turn up with nothing. I almost completely lose it. I grab Peter, as he was currently the closest person to me, by his jacket and bring him close to my face. “I need that tie! It was the one my grandfather wore to his wedding and my own father!” I shout in his face. He grabs my wrists and yanks away from me. “Alright! Chill a little bit, you might have just left it behind in your bedroom. I will go look in there.” Peter says and leaves quickly. John gets me to sit down and Angelo hands me a glass of whiskey. I down it trying to calm myself. Why was I like this, I had never freaked out like that before about anything. All I knew was that Jess was perfect, and I wanted to make everything perfect for her. Peter came back holding my tie, I was so grateful I bear-hugged him and I actually heard a crack. I let go attentively, not sure if I broke him or not. “I’m… good…” he wheezed. “You just made my breast bone crack.” “Oh... well, as long as you’re alright that’s all that matters,” I say clapping his back. I turn to the mirror and put the tie on, I felt better at once. Now all I needed was Jess to be my wife to make me complete. I sighed in relief and turned back to everyone. “Now, I’m ready to go,” I say smiling. “Finally!” John shouts. With that, we head out of the room and get to the yard where everything was set up. It was only friends and family that were here instead of the whole pack. This was a much more intermit affair and somehow made me more nervous. Elder Ramus was in his elder robes the same ones as the night of the Luna ceremony, as he was going to be the minister for the wedding. I went around greeting everyone and shaking hands. All in all, there were only about 100 people here, Luca and Chris were the guards by the patio doors, and so they can work and be at the wedding and ceremony as well. I didn’t want them to work but they knew how paranoid I was, so they said they didn’t mind. So, for this, I was going to double their whole month's wages.
