LEWIS’S POINT OF VIEW
When we were in my office, I told everyone to take a seat. Everyone did but Elder Ramus. I didn’t want to make him; I just wanted to focus on this thing that he said. He had said something about a prophecy in the garden when we got back from the run and that Jess was involved somehow.
“Peter, what do you know about Jess?” I asked again, this time nearly begging.
“What do you mean?” he asked clearly still not understanding me.
“I mean about her past, her parents or heritage?” I elaborated for him.
“Just as much as what you do, Alpha. She was found in the middle of the woods by my father near my pack. She doesn’t remember anything; I mean she was only three years old when she was found, so it’s not surprising.” He replied given me no answers.
I sighed and leaned back in my chair. Soon enough Layla walked in with Jess. I knew she was scared as to what was going on. When she was close enough, I pulled her to me, so I could wrap my arms around her and keep her physically close, so I knew she was safe.
“What’s going?” she asked to no one in particular.
“Luna, your wolf what is her name?” Elder Ramus asked.
“Clara.” She said quietly.
“It is my belief that you and Clara are the wolf that is described in an ancient text.” He said this as though it was so simple.
I felt her tense up and I slowly rubbed circles on her back to get her to relax.
“What do you mean?” she said in such a small whisper.
“Well, in the Elders vault there is a text that mentions a mystical wolf with powers that is said to be coveted by a powerful warlock.” He said so calmly it was like it was made up.
“Elder, forgive me but how can you be so sure that it is Jess in this text of yours?” Lily spoke up worry edged on her face.
I knew the girls all had become close. Jess became tenser and almost started to shake a little bit.
“Because in the text there is also a sketch of her wolf.”
“Alright, I tell you what. If you don’t mind getting this text so we can all read it and can see this sketch. Please Elder Ramus, I just wanted tonight to be one of joy and right now it is not.” I spoke.
“Yes, Alpha. I’m sorry Luna I did not mean to spoil your evening. I shall return within a few weeks with the text.” He said and walked swiftly out of the office.
There seemed to be a collective sigh that was let out by everyone in the room. I held Jess to me hoping to calm her down.
“Okay, if that were true it’s not like we would even let a Warlock get anywhere close to Jess,” Kane said defiantly.
I smiled over at him. It was essentially his job to protect the Luna of his pack along with helping me with pack duties.
“Agreed,” Angelo said squeezing his mate's hand.
“Let’s just go enjoy the rest of the party? As the Elder said it’ll take a while and there is no point in worrying about it until we know for sure.” Leah said smiling and in all honestly, I could not agree more.
I nodded to everyone to go. Peter was hesitant. I smiled and nodded at him so he knew she will always be safe with me. I knew he was a good wolf, and he would do anything for both Layla and Jess I was glad she had a friend like him.
“Hey, Kitten,” I said tenderly after a few minutes of just holding her. “Let’s go down.”
She looked up at me and I knew then that no matter what was going to be thrown her way she would take it in her stride.
