Chapter twenty-four

1010 Words
PETER’S POINT OF VIEW When I got downstairs, I found the guys standing around chatting with Kane and Angelo plus my mate's parents I instantly tensed up, mostly because of Fred who was not one to be crossed. “Hey,” I said timidly, just to let everyone know I was there. They all turned towards me. My friends smiled up at me. Rhianna looked happily at me, Fred just glared at me. I wasn’t sure how to feel right now, I was beyond happy that I found my mate, but I wished that both her parents were happy as well. I was brought up to believe when a mate found the other, that it was a joyous occasion but, I supposed that didn’t apply to the mate of a female Alpha. “Hey, bro. How are you feeling?” Andrew asked. A bit more apprehensively than he usually would’ve been, I knew he wanted to know details, but I was not going to give him any, at least not right now anyway. “I’m alright,” I said this looking around; I saw a new marble table that replaced the wooden one that was broken using me. “Umm… I’m sorry about the table. I’ll pay for a new one.” “Oh, nonsense. If anything, Lewis should apologize to you.” Rhianna said smiling at me and bringing me into a hug. It felt like she was trying to feel my back from my fall earlier, of which I knew the scratches weren’t healed properly yet, but not bad enough for any medical attention. “Speaking of, where is that son of mine?” “He was in the garden with the Luna,” Kane remarked. “Come on Angelo we will go get him.” He said this almost trying not to laugh. Fred continued to glare at me. “Fred stops scaring him!” she said while slapping his arm. “Alright.” He said gruffly. “I’m sorry for how I acted earlier. I should know better, I know I cannot interfere with the mate bond. I can sense you have a good soul and will look after my little girl.” He held out his hand for me to shake. I did so and smiled at him feeling happier now I have his blessing. My brother and friends all cheered and Rhianna kissed Fred on the cheek. Then Angelo came in with Kane and Lewis. I was more scared of the big brother than I was of the father, but I didn’t back down when he glared at me. “Now Lewis, do not give him that look. He is your sister’s mate, and you shall treat him from now on as a family, understand?” she phrased it as a question, but it was more of a command. Lewis grumbled under his breath. “I’m sorry I did not hear you.” “Understood, mother.” His face did soften up at me. “Good. Now, you need to apologize.” Rhianna said to Lewis. “Luna, there is no need,” I said. Even though she wasn’t technically Luna now she still held the title. Once a Luna always a Luna same with Alphas as well. I didn’t think there was any need for him to apologize, he only acted like a big brother I couldn’t fault him for that. “No. Peter, what Lewis did was rude and unacceptable as a brother and an Alpha especially to a guest!” this left no room for argument. Everyone looked a bit stiff and scared to say anything even Fred seemed too scared to intervene. Lewis glared at me like it was all my fault, but even he couldn’t argue with his mum. “I’m sorry Peter.” He, like Fred, held out his hand, although a bit begrudgingly this time but I still shook it gladly to try to form a bond with my mate's family. “Good. Now on your knees, hands stretched above your head.” Rhianna said to Lewis. “Mum! I’m the Alpha here; you cannot punish me like a child!” “I am your mother, therefore I can. And you threw poor Peter through a table! Of which the scratches on his back have not yet healed!” She turned to me smiling kindly and asked “Would you like to go see our pack doctor dear?” “No, thank you. They aren’t deep at all.” I said brushing it off, trying to convince Rhianna not to punish Lewis. So, she was checking my back out. Lewis looked like he was going to say something but decided against it knowing he would not win. I didn’t want him to be punished I wanted to get along with my mate's brother and the rest of his family. Having your arms above your head for extended periods of time builds lactic acid and the bigger your muscles the worse it gets. “Rhianna, it’s okay. He has already apologized.” I said sweetly. The tone I used with my own mother when I wanted to get my own way. I missed her a lot, she was killed in a rogue attack when we got back from our last family vacation. “Baby boy Peter, in it to win it with the in-laws.” Cheered Andrew all the guys laughed even Kane and Angelo. Although Fred seemed to give me a searching look to see whether I was trying to trick them into thinking I was and then I was going to spring on them. “That is sweet of you dear, but Lewis needs to learn to control his temper.” She said glaring at Lewis. The guys were all still laughing like a bunch of schoolchildren. “You lot can join him as well if you like!” That shut them up quickly. But the tense silence became all too much and then we all started laughing except Rhianna who glared at us all now.
