Chapter fourteen

LEWIS’S POINT OF VIEW

Once the doctor cleared Jess to leave, I took her to my office, I should probably let her rest, but I was pissed, someone hurt her! Plus, she lied to my face about it! Why would she do that? Maybe there was a small chance it was an accident, but I really doubted that.

When we got outside my office, I opened the door for her to go in first, she did but hung her head, I went in after her. I sat down in my chair behind my desk and just looked at her. She looked like she was a child that got sent to the headmaster’s office. I could not help but get a little aroused by that little role-playing idea. Not the time. I shake my head to clear my thoughts, maybe another day. She was hanging her head, staring at her shoes, her purple hair hanging down in curtains around her face.

“Come here, Kitten.” I held out my hand for her, she took it, and I pulled her to me so she could sit down on my lap. I held her close only to find out she was crying, she wasn’t this scared of me, was she? I hated to see her upset; it always broke me inside seeing her this way. I brushed her hair behind her ears and wiped away her tears, trying to reassure her that she wasn’t actually going to be in trouble. Before I could say anything though someone knocked on my office door. “Come in.”

Angelo and Kane walked in, Kane was holding a tablet, they both looked apprehensive to tell me anything, so I guessed it was not good news.

“Boss, we have the footage from the kitchen,” Kane said handing me the tablet.

I pressed the play button and saw that Jess was just happily sitting eating at the kitchen island and that someone came up behind her and just smashed her face on the countertop. Then when Jess got up to face them the woman slapped her right across the face, they were having a shouting match by the looks of it but then the women just turned around, and I saw that it was Rebecca, and my face contorted with rage.

“SHE BETTER BE IN A CELL!” I shouted at them making Jess flinch and Kane and Angelo bow their heads, trembling slightly. “WELL? I’M WAITING FOR AN ANSWER!”

They looked at each other anxiously. Then Angelo spoke.

“Well, you see, Alpha, when we saw the footage ourselves, I mind linked Derick, and he said that Rebecca had left the territory.” He finished quietly.

“f**k!”

“I’m sorry boss, but she can’t stay out of the territory unless she has somewhere else to go.” Kane chimed in. By this point I was breathing very hard, I just held on to Jess tighter and breathed in her scent. Within seconds I was calmer.

“Kitten, why didn’t you say it was her? We could’ve gotten to her sooner.” She sighed and looked at me.

“Does the camera record sound?” her voice was quiet and afraid. I nodded and played it again but this time with the sound up.

After I realized why she didn’t say anything, Jess thought she would be weak if she came to me. I don’t know how she could possibly think that to me she was the strongest person I know, after reading her file, while she was resting in the Bottomless Lagoon pack hospital; she has gone through a lot already.

I was surprised when I read it; some people would have hidden away after what happened when she was 12 years old. At first, I thought she would be really apprehensive to do anything even remotely intimate. But not Jess she pushed it all behind her and look where she is now. My mate, my Kitten, and my Luna. I could not help but smile about that, I promised that she will never go through something like that again.

I was annoyed that she was sent out to run an errand on her own when it was dark, but then again predicting what would have happened is near enough impossible, unless of course, you are a blessed wolf or a witch with powers. After I confronted the alpha about what I read, he hung his head in shame but told me that someone had already beaten his guards of catching the wolves that hurt her, and no one knows who it was.

To this day apparently, it is still classed as an open case as to who ripped apart from them male wolves, I would personally like to shake their hand for killing those rapists, child beating cunts. I was only sorry I wasn’t the one to do so but given I did not know Jess at the time, I couldn’t have.

Once Kane and Angelo had left my office after telling them to inform the guards that if Rebecca is to show her face in the pack again, she is to be brought straight to my office or the cells. I took Jess back to our room so she could relax and rest after what happened, I thought she would need it.

When she was asleep, I sent a mind link to Luca.

“Luca?”

“Yes Alpha?”

“Has Kane or Angelo told you about the incident that happened earlier today?”

“Yes, Alpha. How is the Luna doing?”

“She’s fine, resting right now, but I was going to tell you that from now on if I am not with her or Kane or Angelo. You or Chris need to be with her at all times.”

“Yes Alpha, no problem. I shall inform Chris.”

“Thank you, Luca.”
