The car rolled up in front of the tenement that Sunday afternoon at 1 PM. Johnny Sanders got out and held the door for Marie Sullivan before paying the driver, who agreed to come back as soon as Johnny called the dispatcher. Marie was dressed in a peach-colored dress which favored her hourglass figure. Johnny thought she had great legs and was growing more and more enchanted by his new friend. He led the way as they walked up the six flights to the top floor apartment. “No wonder your Dad doesn"t like to go out,” she quipped as they reached the end of their climb. “No wonder my Mom"s in such good shape,” he replied. “I should save my gym dues by coming here and running steps all day.” He knocked on the door and there was a pause before they heard the door being unlocked from inside.
