Sharon and Ioan were married in Pottsville that summer. They returned to Boston and bought a home where they raised four sons and four daughters. All eight children followed Horace Greeley"s advice and headed west to seek their fortune. They spread as far as Wyoming to the north, Texas to the south and Arizona to the west. Their youngest son, Sean, married an Irishwoman along the Texas frontier. They had ten children of their own, all of whom left home early to stake their own claims in the world. Ironically, it was the enterprising and independent spirit of the Sanders clan that caused the family to be scattered into the wind.
