I gazed at her for a moment, sinking into the couch, my mind bewildered. It couldn't be true; Kat had run away, and she hadn't even returned after all she'd done.
"Edward, don't you believe it?" she asked, breaking my trance.
Her smile and the way she uttered my name left me conflicted. I considered banging my head against the wall, unsure of what to think.
As she approached, about to touch my face, I seized her hands, rising from the couch, my eyes turning an intense shade of blue.
