Lydia pov. I could hear voices all around me, and my head throbbed with pain. I struggled to open my eyes, but it felt like I was trapped in a deep, unending slumber. "What have you done?" The voice seemed so close, like it belonged to my mother. "It was an accident, my queen. She jumped." I couldn't grasp why I could hear everything they were saying but couldn't will myself to open my eyes. What had transpired? Why was I in this state of limbo? A gentle hand rested on me, and someone's head sank onto my arm. The sobs and cries reached my ears, as if the person wept for me. Confusion engulfed me. What was really unfolding? "Lydia!" My mother's voice pierced the air with anguish, repeatedly calling my name. Why was she shouting? What was happening that remained beyond my comprehension
