Just My Luck- Abby

893 Words
I was late. I was late for my so-called arranged date, and I can already imagine my mother's disappointment. I had a last-minute call to Dr. Dey's office which made me a bit late. I hope he understands. I enter the cafe, which is just opposite the hospital. It's a very expensive-looking cafe, with grey shades. I look around to find my date and spot him sitting in a corner by the window. I head toward him with an awkward smile. Before he could get up to greet me, I take a quick look at my surroundings, double-checking that a certain someone isn't around. "Hi, I am Cameron. You must be Elizabeth," He says standing up and extending his hand towards me to shake. "It's just Abby, and it's nice to meet you," I reply taking his hand. "I must say, you are even prettier in real life," Just the cliche dialogue. After almost ten minutes, I was more at ease now. Although he started the date with a cliche dialogue, the rest of the time he was quite smooth, with original compliments. I must admit, he did make me blush a few times. "Well, why did you agree to go to a gala with someone you didn't even meet?" I finally asked him the question that was bugging me for a while. Before he could answer, a voice interrupted us. Just my luck. . . . "Look what we have here," Trevor's voice broke the peaceful lunch I was having. Cameron looked at me as if asking if I knew him. I wanted to say no, but I couldn't, that would just make things worse. I quickly got up to drag Trevor away from here, but he beat me to it and pushed me down. He went a step ahead and took a seat beside me. "I thought we went over this, princess," He said, focusing on the word princess. I knew what was going to happen next, but poor Cameron didn't and looked at me with a confused glance. Before I could say anything, Trevor continued without sparing Cameron a single glance. "I get that you are angry, but I apologized, didn't I? I promised we would be exclusive from now so stop with your little revenge to put me in place," Saying so he held my hand. I know I should have said something but it just makes me the bad person. Everyone thinks I am acting out after being caught. So, I just pass Cameron an apologetic smile and turn towards the satan itself. I wait for Cam to leave and lash out at Trevor. "TEN YEARS!!! TEN f*****g YEARS!! And you still couldn't let it go. You still have to go through with it every time and ruin every single date of mine?" I was beyond furious right now and the smug grin on his face didn't help. He has done this since he came here. This pathetic little thing here wants to ruin my every chance of finding love. "You don't get to have a fairy tale love life after scarring me for life. YOU DON'T!!" he shouts at the end. Our faces were inches apart, each exploding just like every time. The good thing was that Dr. Dey was nowhere near. . . . "I spoke too soon. Too f*****g soon. My mother got to know about the whole Trevor fiasco from Cameron. Apparently, they are yoga buddies. That's not the worst part, no. She was so overjoyed over the phone. She now thinks that Trevor and I are a thing. Wait for it. She wants us to come together to the gala. Right now would be the best time to have a cardiac arrest." I kept on ranting to May who didn't look much interested. She was rather busy munching down her snacks. "Mayyyy?" I whined to shift her attention back to me. Before she could react, my cabin door burst open with an almost red from rage Trevor standing on the other side. . . . I was scared. I don't know why but I was scared. Trevor looked like a werewolf about to go rogue. If looks could kill, I would be twelve feet under the ground. He would dig up an extra six feet just to spite me. He was breathing heavily, trying to control himself. "Why would you tell your mother that we are dating? Is this another one of your games?" He spits out. He still hasn't forgotten that huh? "You really think I would ever date something as nauseating as you? After what you did?" He said after a pause. I didn't mean to laugh, but I couldn't control myself. 'Nauseating'? Who says that? An OBGYN, that's who. I controlled myself when I saw him about to burst. He was always easy to rile up, which made what I did in high school so easy. "Drink some water and calm down," I said, handing him a glass of water. He was so shocked that he even took it. See, it was so easy to mess with him. "And, I didn't tell my mother anything, the little stunt you pulled in front of Cameron brought forward these consequences. Don't worry, I'll deal with my mother." Saying so, I picked up my coat and left my cabin. . . .
