Pain. Bright lights. Everything hurt. Oh, God, hell is real Gabriel thought as he tried to open his eyes, which watered in the bright light. He blinked rapidly. But if hell was real, then why was Officer Robert McBride sitting in a nearby chair, looking tired. Gabriel must have groaned from the pain, because suddenly he was surrounded by several nurses—who were checking his vitals and reapplying warm packs over various parts of his body—and an angel who injected something heavenly into his IV.
