Chapter 23 August 2018 A rumble of thunder woke me from a dream that was fading with each breath. I was left with only a vague impression of riding atop a horse on some sort of journey. Mostly I recalled a deep connection with the stallion, our minds almost a single organism. But if there were any other interesting details, they dissipated like fog in the sun of bright pain behind my eyes. Yesterday’s memories rolled over me and washed away the last of my dreams. I still couldn’t believe how much had been laid bare over the last three weeks, and especially within the last twenty-four hours.
