On Halloween, Gabriel and Justin were allowed to walk without supervision on the streets of South Boston for trick-or-treating as long as they promised to stay out of trouble and be home by ten o’clock.
Gabriel was excited. He’d found a discarded old dark shag bathroom mat and turned it into a costume to look like Jon Snow. Justin simply pulled the strings on the hood of his orange hoodie, going as “Kenny” from South Park. Together, they trolled the neighborhood, raking in the candy, despite some of the raised eyebrows they got due to their age. Gabriel guessed this would be the last year they’d get away with trick-or-treating.
