Beep, beep, beep beep beep.
"Celka, shut off the volume." I grumble shout, wanting to keep sleeping.
"There's no Celka here." A male voice whispers in my ear.
My eyes pop open.
Beep beep. The offending noise is coming from across the room.
An arm wraps around me, and the comforting embrace lets me relax, and remember the events of the last few days, but most importantly last night.
After everyone else left Tiger and I continued sitting on the couch, cuddling, smoking, and getting to know each other. When we became exhausted it only seemed natural to go to sleep in the same bed.
Beep beep beep.
I angrily move Tiger's arm from me and storm across the room to grab the wrist computer off the small shelf by the door. I put it on and start looking at the messages I've been sent. It really hits me how much responsibility I now have. I don't have time to study the lists or laws, so I just verify they're existence and save them for later. I feel a joyous vibration.
"Better get up." I tell Tiger, "Angel's about to have her babies. I have an entire list of people I need to talk to, and you still have to memorize your part of the space twin ceremony, that we both have to make sure we're there for."
"How do you know Angel's about to have her foals?" Tiger asks with a yawn.
"Births and deaths are the easiest vibrations to read." I inform him.
Tiger sits up and admits, "It sounds like an interesting ability to have. Wish I knew what it was like."
I chuckle a bit as I walk over to the bed, climb on, and give Tiger a hug from behind. "You already have an idea. After all you pick up on my vibrations without any trouble, and apparently you can tune into Jorman."
Tiger nods his head slightly before looking back at me and saying, "That's not quite the same."
I kiss his forehead. "Be careful what you wish for. Those who get them often find the new abilities overwhelming."
"What are you talking about?" Tiger asks as he quickly turns around, breaking my hug, and facing me.
"A blood exchange with a Nyrarian, like in a marriage ceremony, usually makes a direct connection to each other. On extremely rare occasions a non-Nyrarian can receive the ability to tune into the universal vibrations."
Tiger pulls out his square computer pad, hits a few spots, then starts scanning. "The space twin ceremony includes an exchange of blood."
I nod my head. "We still have to get the exchangers for that. Add that to my list of things to do today. " I mutter to myself. I return my attention to Tiger. "I made sure Jorman told Valor. Apparently your planet has something called blood brothers, and Valor has always wanted one."
"I need to talk to them." Tiger exclaims as he steps out of bed.
"They're headed to watch Angel give birth. Jorman knows not to ruin the surprise for Valor." I state as I head to the bathroom. "You'll know where to find me if you need me."
Tiger takes off.
When I'm done in the bathroom I decide to dress in my black pants, a green short sleeve shirt, and a black vest. Putting both of my crew medallions on the top of my pants. I look in the mirror and decide I've managed to find a balance between looking like a warrior, and not looking like the Warvians I'm giving these women the option of leaving.
I head into the kitchen, pull cider and caramel out of my fridge, and heat them up to make myself a Tharian Krandy.
I'm taking my first sip when I feel a major disturbance in the vibrations, coming from my Warvian ship.
I tune into the vibrations, and immediately realize my mistake. "I didn't make an order about the children." I gasp out loud to no one.
I jump off the seat I had just taken, spilling my Krandy. As I run out the door I make a mental note to clean that up when I get back.
As I run full speed to my Warvian ship I send vibrations to Skit, letting him know I might need help from him and Captain Zerrva.
I arrive to see a Warvian warrior slapping a woman across the face and yelling, "The child belongs to me, and I'm leaving!"
I don't waste time. I grab him by the back of his head, getting a good grip on his hair as I send my knee into his stomach, causing him to lean forward, and his hair to get pulled in the process. He screams out from the pain in his head. I yank back, hard and quickly, before releasing his hair, causing him to fall on his ass.
Everyone who can is watching.
I grab a dagger out of the sheath of another male standing close by, and hold it to the offending male's throat.
