My granddaughter

"Baby, calm down. Your excitement feels like adrenaline shooting through my veins." My mate chuckled, coming to stand behind me, wrapping his large arms around my waist. I leaned back into him. I giggled and sighed happily. "Tony... I'm... I'm just so happy. I can't believe we have another grandpup. More importantly, a grandpup by that lovely girl. I'll be honest, we only met her once, but I felt connected with her immediately. She was the sweetest girl I've ever met, and I hoped she was our son's mate. Remember, I used to beg him to bring her around more often... and when he told me that she left because he found his true mate, it felt as if my heart shattered. I was utterly heartbroken finding out she left. It broke more when I heard she died. I don't know why, but it felt as if a part of my soul died along with her. I don't understand it myself, but I loved that girl." I turned to face my mate, still pressed against his body in his arms. I reached up and caressed his defined jaw. I pressed my forehead against his chest, taking in my mate's scent to calm me. It still feels like a storm rages inside me every time I think of her dying. "Then to find out she bore us a granddaughter. One who knows nothing of her family." "I believe she mentioned her family being rather small. She was an only child, and her parents passed on early due to an accident. She was raised in an orphanage till she aged out, right Tori?" Tony asked me. I nodded my head sadly. "That's exactly why I'm so happy... and so sad that I'm just now finding out about our granddaughter. She never knew she had family beyond her mother. Now, the only family she had was taken away from her. I don't want her to feel alone. I- I don't know why, but I feel like I failed her mother. Like, maybe we could've been there for her in some way." Tony tightened his arms around me as if trying to shield me from my own guilt. "Tor, you couldn't have known. I know you loved that girl. I remember feeling your instant connection to her, that it made me love her too. But you nor I can carry that burden. Let us love the piece of her that is still here. We will get to shower her in all the love you wish you could've given to her mother." I let his words seep into my heart to soothe my raging storm. I know I wouldn't be able to settle until I've come face to face with my new baby. I sighed, taking a deep breath, pulling back to look into his eyes. "Alright. Let's go see her." As if right on que, there was a knock on the door. I smiled. "Looks like he's here to take us to her." Tony chuckled. "I guess you're right. Come on." He grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the door. He opened it and there my son stood. He smiled at us. "Hey, my baby boy. I've missed you, darling." I opened my arms wide to my big son as he dipped down to give me a hug. "Hey, ma. I've missed you too." I let him go, and he hugged his father. "Hey, pop." "Hey, son. How ya doing?" Tony patted him heavily on the back. I smiled up, looking at these two beautiful men. My son took on a lot of his father's features. His black hair and thick brows. His jawline and broad body and muscles. Even his brown eyes, though he has my lashes. They match in height and everything, although my son has a more serious personality. That was one thing I noticed about Minnie. She was able to soften him up like no other. She was such a sweetheart that it made you want to be as soft as possible around her. She had that effect on people, and my son was no exception. "Ma?" "Huh?" My son and mate chuckled at me. I elbowed Tony, and he pretended to be hurt, rubbing his stomach. "You weren't paying attention, were you, ma." I blushed slightly. "Yes, I was. I just zoned out for a second or two." My son chuckled more, and I glared at him. He raised his hands in surrender, still with a smile on his face. "I asked if you were ready to meet your granddaughter. She's a bit nervous, but she's just as excited." My smile deepened. I clapped my hands together and bounced on my toes. "Yes, of course. What are we standing around here for? Let's go!!" I go to move around my son, but he stops me. I looked back at him, confused. I can see on his face that he had a hint of concern. A wave of fear washed over me, and my hands trembled. "Son, what's the matter? What's wrong with our grandpup?" Tony asked, sensing his uneasiness as well. I heard the emotions he was trying to hide in his voice, which made how I felt worse. It's hard to get him to react outwardly like this. Brandon shook his head. "She's ok. She's perfectly fine, actually." I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I frowned in confusion. "Then what's the matter, baby?" He sighed and looked me in the eye. "Ma, you'll know once you see her. We'll talk about it after. I just don't want to freak her out or scare her unnecessarily. So when you see what I'm sure you will, try not to act on it. Ok?" He gave both me and his father a long stare, begging us to agree. I nodded, and Tony grunted in response. He seemed relieved and took us to her room. What could be the problem that has him so worried if she's not hurt? OH. MY. GODDESS. She's breathtaking. She no more than five feet. She looks every bit like her mother, as if our son had no hand in making her at all. All she has of his is his nose. Her complexion matched her mother's, though she was a tad bit brighter than she was, but her smooth, dark skin stood out amongst the greenest eyes I've only seen one time before. Her mother had those same eyes. The biggest shock was her hair. It was all silver, root to end. It all was that signature silver. She had highlights of black and white strands, but silver is what it was. I've never seen anything like it before. No one has ever had this much silver before... and she's so young. I looked back at my son, finally understanding what he was worried about. My granddaughter... my beautiful granddaughter... I fear is in terrible danger.
