Everything happened so quickly. As soon as I saw my daughter walk in the door, Axel and I were finally able to settle. I know Kwen has felt the strain between her and Lisa, and so she makes an effort to avoid her, keeping conflict low. I also appreciate that she doesn't allow that to come between our connection building. Things seemed quiet for a while, so I figured a family dinner would be nice... that was a f*****g stupid idea.
Kwen was a little late. I figured it was because she doesn't know her way around fully. Brody minlinked me when she asked for directions and was on her way here, so she might've got turned around somewhere.
I did not expect Lisa to blow up like that on her. I've always known she's had a bit of temper and can be testy, but I hadn't expected her to react so visceral to Kwen and then to call her a mongruel had Axel ready to grip her up. He's particularly protective of Kwen. Maybe it's because we weren't there for 12 years or because she's human, but he's never felt the need to hurt our mate ever... not until that very moment. I didn't know whether to be proud of Kwen or punish her. She spoke calmly and with the maturity of someone twice her age. Even when she began to cry, her anger was definitely justified. Too much was happening all at once for her. It's only been a week since she's buried her mother, and her new mother figure has made it clear of her dislike towards Kwen. It broke my heart seeing her cry with such a void look in her eyes. I didn't know what to say, but I would've never expected what happened next. Sierra thought it was a good idea to say some unforgivable words to kwen, and kwen attacked her so quickly that I think it surprised her too. We all shouted at the sight. My parents and I were running to get to them when Lisa made it there first, snatching Kwen off Sierra. Lisa was about to hit Kwen when Kwen stopped her. Lisa went for another blow, and Axel made his presence known, roaring in anger at what was about to happen to his daughter. Except, the opposite occurred. Kwen was about to f**k Lisa up. We were all shocked at the power behind the hit to Lisa's face, hearing her nose breaking. I shouted through minlink at Brody to come in and take Kwen before a full blown battle took place. I always keep him close as protection for Kwen. He actually really likes her and seems to soften around her, which is saying something. He charged in immediately, grabbed her before she pounced on Lisa after she fell back from the first hit, screaming.
"TAKE HER OUT OF HER NOW!!"
I yelled out loud as I jumped in front of Lisa who got up and was about to attack a retreating Brody, holding a kicking and screaming Kwen, out the door. My father had to hold my mother back from attacking my mate. My beta, gamma and commander came charging into the room after hearing the commotion from the pack's dinning room.
"LET ME GO THIS INSTANT!! SHE WAS ABOUT TO ATTACK MY GRAND BABY!! I'LL RIP HER f*****g THROAT OUT FOR EVER CONSIDERING IT!!"
My mother yelled at the top of her lungs, as my father held her firmly.
"WHAT THE f**k IS GOING ON HERE??!! WHAT HAPPENED TO KWEN? WHO WAS ABOUT TO ATTCK HER??!!"
Shouted Logan, confused at the whole situation.
"I'M YOUR LUNA. YOUR FIRST PRIOTY SHOULD BE ME!!! NOT THAT... BEAST!!"
I flipped my head around in pure anger, landing my heated gaze on my mate.
"ENOUGH!!!!"
Everything went silent. My friends collapsed to their knees, bowing their necks in surrender to me. My aura was pouring out of me in waves. I've had enough of her blatant disrespect to my child. Lisa flinched and took a step back away from me after finally realizing she might've went to far.
"You will not continue to hurt MY daughter like that. Since you constantly remind her, me and everyone else that she's not yours, you do not get to have a say about her any further. In every case, it is you who starts it and then get upset that she's not willing to take your disrespect laying down. She can't be intimidated by you because she's human and it's killing to know that she won't take it quietly. DO. NOT. EVER!! Call my child a Mongruel again... mate or not, I will protect her from anyone!!! THAT includes you."
Her eyes welled with tears at my words. My heart ached at the look in her eyes, but I was resolute in my decision. She's my daughter. Her mother left her in my care, and I will protect her from all hurt, harm, and danger. She reached out to me, but I stepped away from her. She gasped as if it was hard for her to breathe.
"Ho- how could you say that to me. I- I'm your mate! We've had 12 amazing years together, and you'll let a woman and her child come tear us a part?!"
"That woman is the mother of my child. When you speak about her, you will do so respectfully."
I looked at her, then back at my daughter, who was huddled up with her brother. She was still crying, and my angery glare made her cry more. I didn't care about her tears because she was dead wrong for what she said to her sister. I looked back at Lisa to continue.
"Minnie raised Kwen for 12 years without "bothering" us once. I will be taking care of my daughter. If you don't like it, then maybe we have to reconsider things."
She gasped out loud. She was about to say something, but a mindlink came through from Brody, cutting off my focus to her.
"ALPHA!! KWEN PASSED OUT AND I CAN'T WAKE HER! I'M HEADING TO THE PACK MEDICAL CENTER NOW!"
"What?! What happened."
"I took her to the waterfall since she goes there to relax often. She was screaming and crying. I had to slap her back to get her to breathe. After that, she cried and screamed louder. Then, she was out."
My heart dropped. Axel was pacing in my mind with the need to go to her.
"On my way."
This is all my fault. I should've gone about things differently. I was expecting too much from her that I never even allowed her time to grieve. It felt like the air was being sucked from my lungs. I turned away from Lisa, not being able to look her in the eyes. I faced my parents and my friends.
"She's heading to the medical center. She passed out. Brody is taking her there now."
My father faced turned white, then anger laced across his features. My mother gasped and whimpered.
"We will discuss this further later... I can't face you right now."
I spoke that as most of us in room, left to go see about my daughter.
I opened the door to the room in the medical center and saw Kwen laid on the bed. She looked asleep, but it didn't seem peaceful. Guilt washed over me, and it felt as if my knees would buckle under its weight. I felt a strong arm reach across my back.
"Son. She's gonna be alright."
My dad came to stand next to me and held me up. I turned to look at the doc, my voice feeling small.
"How is she?"
