I had some business to attend to. It was taking longer than I expected, and I really wanted to get back home. Lisa has been blowing my phone up non-stop, and at this point, it's getting annoying. She and I grew up together in her pack. She wasn't the daughter of an alpha, but her father had connections. He was a high-ranking wolf in the Highland Moon pack... as you can guess by the name, they were mountainers. They were also very, how would you say, obsessed with purity. The more pure your bloodline was, the better you were deemed. I just so happened to be one of the daughters of the witch who lived among them. My family has been a family friend to the alpha's of Highland for a little more than a century. My great, great grandmother saved one of the alphas from being killed by a rival alpha after starting a war with them. Since then, the Clove witches have been a part of Highland. One rule: never mate with any wolf in Highland.
We have all stuck to that rule and have enjoyed a good life since. We Clove witches always find a very strong human or warlock to mate with. Our names always start with an "A." My great, great grandmother's name was Aavry. My great grandmother's was, Aris. My grandmother's, Adona, and my mother's Ave. My name is Ava Clove, and I'll will be the one to bring what my family has fought hard to bring about. For centuries, we Clove's have sought the end to the Chosen line. None has ever been so close to destroying it... none but me. I had to return home to receive new instructions and to get more herbs for my potions, but things back home haven't been fairing well. The Highland wolves were becoming a little too big for their britches. Highland is a very wealthy pack, with high prestige amongst the other packs. But, they too forget, it is because of us witches that they've been able to climb the hierarchy ladder of wolves in such little time. My grandmother has called for me. Apparently, this new alpha wished to change things that had stood long before his first breath was taken. They think we have weakened. My great, great grandmother was the strongest of us all. Since then, no one has been able to match or surpass her strength. Luckily for me, those wolves don't know what I already have. I was told to keep my true power hidden from the high-ranking wolves of that pack. When Lisa and her father set their sights on Brandon Blackwolf, I was instructed to go with her and only return once called upon. I'm rarely asked to return, so I know it must be important.
I finally reached our home. It's a big house on the outskirts of the pack. It's a largely cabin base home, but with modern conveniences. Every couple of decades, we upgrade the interior but leave the outside as is. The outside is covered in flower vines and moss, hidden behind the cover of trees, weeping willows being the most prominent. The moment I enter into my old childhood home, I close my eyes, feeling my powers surge within me, almost as if the land has welcomed me back.
"What has taken you, child?"
My eyes stay closed as I breathe in and out, feeling at peace.
"I had other things to contend with. I'm here now. What is the problem?"
"You'd do well to speak with a little more respect."
"Have I not been respectful?"
"Not in the slightest."
I opened my eyes and turned to face the woman whom I've been speaking to. I smiled.
"Well, it seems we have a problem then."
"I guess so... daughter."
A smile broke across her face. I ran to my mother, embracing her.
"It's so good to see you, mother."
"And I, you."
We held each other for a moment longer before another voice broke through our moment.
"Well, hello, my darling."
I unwrapped myself from my mother's arms, looking past her back. My smile brightened.
"Grandmother!"
I charged towards her, and again, I was enveloped into a big hug.
"I'm so glad to see you as well."
I said as I took a step back, looking her up and down.
"How are you fairing? Are you feeling well?"
She smiled, patting me on the cheek.
"Yes, of course I am. Now that I get to see your beautiful face, I'm soaring with energy. When I look at you, all I see is my grandmother, whom I love as you love me."
Grandmother always looks at me with love. She and my mother have always said that I look like a replica of my great, great grandmother. Maybe that is why I have so much power. My great, great grandmother was 5'7, tan skin, straight jet black hair with a blue hue. She had white, almost clear eyes. She had beautifully arched brows, a narrow nose, and thin pursed lips. She was absolutely stunning. I took on her white, clear eyes, nose, brows, and jet back hair, but mine has a violet purple hue. I'm 5'10, with fair skin and full lips. She was also thinner than I am. I hold more generous curves than she did. My grandmother passed on that gene to my mother and I. My grandmother had red turning gray hair that was full and curly, and my mother had wavy dark brown hair. They both shared water green eyes and button noses with thin lips. My grandmother was curvier than my mother in both breasts and hips. My mom had a bigger bust than I, but smaller hips. My hips were wider, and I have large breasts. The women in the Clove coven were known to be notoriously beautiful.
I looked my grandmother in the eyes and noticed a hint of excitement. I knitted my brows together.
"Why are you so excited?"
She and my mother both beamed at me.
"I think we finally done it. The chosen has appeared. Our hard work was not for naught."
My grandmother said. My eyes widened in suprise.
Was this why Lisa kept calling me?
Did Sierra finally inherit the silver hair of the Goddess Chosen?
I couldn't wait to get back to you now. I squealed and hugged both my mother and grandmother in a big hug. I can't believe it... all of our hard work was about to be rewarded. We spoke more and exchanged herbs. I was given more instructions, and then I left. There will be no need to hold myself back soon. In due time, I will finally be able to end that tiresome cycle.
Day of the Ball...
What. Is. This???
I finally arrived back at the Blackcresent Moon pack to find what we thought to be true, to be false. The chosen has definitely appeared, but it was not Sierra who held the marking. It's some other girl. I had never seen her before. I was coming out of the tree lining, where my home reside at the end of the pack's borders. I arrived only last night. I felt no need to speak with Lisa. I knew what she wanted to tell me, and I wanted to suprise her by my showing up. Only to find something... and someone I was never expecting. I watched in horror as Brandon introduced the girl as his child. Not only that, but she's the eldest. I thought we rid ourselves of that thorn of a human years ago. Yet, even when dead, she seemed to have caused a ruckus at my doorstep. My blood was boiling. I had to contact my family, but first, I needed to get out of here. The rage that was bubbling up in me was becoming too intense the longer I stared at the girl. I made a break for the woods. I headed back to my home. I needed some things. I needed to test whether she was indeed the chosen or if by some unfortunate luck, only received the hair coloring of one. I'll do whatever I have to, but I'd rather not kill an innocent child for it.
I head back to the ball. I see I was gone long enough for dinner to be over. The party has spilled out onto the patio and dance floor. Some have taken to breaking off in groups, talking and others frolicking with other young wolves. I had my sight set on this newly acquired daughter. She sat alone under a willow tree... how fitting. I moved linear to her, never breaking stride. My first thought was that she seemed to be a normal girl. But as I grew closer, her body tensed as if it sensed danger. She began looking around. I stopped and watched from far off, trying to see if she could find me. She relaxed a little after not being able to find the danger. I silently crept up behind the tree she sat under studying her features. She was quite a pretty girl. She seemed to sense me. I moved quickly as she turned her head to look back and around the tree. I took that opportunity to make my way towards her.
"Hello, stranger. You must be the new daughter. Nice to meet you. My name is Ava."
I watched as she whipped her head around to me. She seemed confused by my presence but then steeled her back. Right then, I knew things weren't as they seemed.
I smiled.
This will be interesting.
