In this lifetime

I watched as Steph booked it towards the woods, and my father, only moments later, roared out in rage as he shifted and ran towards the woods as well. Stephs heart-wrenching scream, yelling out Kwens' name, brought a terror to my body I've never felt before. Shadow roared out in my head as he kick-started my body into running. We all followed Kwens' scent to a willow tree, but steph kept going. I could tell my dad was filled with rage. His anger was rippling off his body. The other warriors around us sensed it, and they reacted to his anger by picking up the pace and snarling. I saw one of the warriors, Kyle, who my dad made a body guard for Kwen, came rushing passed us. He's always super chill, but in this moment, he was seething. Steph kept running deeper into the woods. I was confused cause we lost Kwens' scent.

"Where you going? We're can't catch her scent!"

I yelled out to Steph.

"I can't smell her, but I know where she is!! Just trust me!!"

My dad and the other warriors ran in the direction Steph was running in, passing him by. Logan, Elias, and I ran to catch up with him. Steph is one of the fastest people I know, so I had to push hard to reach him. I grabbed his shoulder and spun him around to face me. His face was pale, and his eyes were wide. Steph is never one to panic, but all I could sense from him was his own fear. I gripped up his shoulders and shook him.

"WHAT THE HELL, DUDE!! YOU GOTTA RELAX!!!"

I shouted tryna to get him to come back to himself. He struggled against my grip, still shouting.

"I HAVE TO GO SAVE HER! LET ME GO! SHE NEEDS MY HELP. I HAVE TO SAVE HER!"

"STEPHEN!!"

I shouted back to him. His eyes, which were usually a fresh water green and became a teal blue when Styx was present, had turned into a greenish gold color that seemed to glow. I was taken aback for a moment before shaking him again.

"STEPH! GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF!"

That's when he stood still. Logan and Elias came up on either side of me, cautiously looking at Stephen.

"Steph?"

Logan asked as he stepped closer to him. His eyes remained this golden green and continued to glow. Steph put his hand on my chest, and then all of a sudden, I was forced off of him. I flew back into Logan and Elias, and we all tumbled to the ground. All of us groaned and looked up at steph in confusion. He didn't feel the same anymore. We all scrambled up and stood in defensive positions. I didn't want to hurt one of my best friends, but I could tell the Steph we knew was not here at the moment.

Steph looked at the three of us.

"I must get to my charge. You are either with me or in my way."

He spoke in a voice that wasn't his or Styx. It sounded deeper but clearer. He turned and began running.

"His charge? Does he mean Kwen?"

Elias asked out loud.

"I don't know, but he clearly seems to know where he's going. I don't know what he means or what's going on, but I won't allow anyone to hurt my sister."

With that said, I was off right behind Steph, and Logan and Elias were right behind me. We ran until we reached the pool of the waterfall. The rushing water drowned out our breathing. We stopped a few steps behind Steph. I watched him as he watched the water. Steph stood smelling the air, and then his head snapped straight ahead. We heard the groans and small splashes coming from the water. That's when we see a banged up Brody carrying the beat up and bruised body of my sister. My knees felt as if they'd buckled at any moment watching her. We watched in horror as Brody struggled to carry her body from the water. The moment he reached land, I began running to them, but steph stopped me. I looked at him, and he turned to look back at me.

"I have to save her. I won't let you lose her."

He smiled at me, his eyes still that same golden green. I was so confused by his words, but I felt they were true. Logan and Elias held me back as Brody slowly lowered his body on the ground in a kneeled position. His body seemed battered as well, but not nearly as bad as my sister. I just noticed that her big, curly puffs, we're now cut. Her beautiful darksin was now black and blue, but pale all at the same time. She's looked dead, and I would've thought she was, had not been for the shallow breathing I heard her take.

"I will protect you in this lifetime... my queen."

Steph whispered out.

What the hell is talking about?

What does he mean by this lifetime?

My queen?

Brody held Kwen in his arms as Steph kneeled down and caressed her cheek. He put his forehead against hers and whispered.

"Moon Goddess... come forth... and heal."

He moved down to her lips and hovered above them. Then ever so gently, blew a gentle breath. She suddenly took a deep breath in and settled into Brody's arms. I was shocked. Steph turned back to me and smiled.

"She will live. She... will..."

Before he could finish, he collapsed. I rushed over quickly and caught him before he could hit the ground.

"What. The . f**k. Was that?"

Elias asked nervously. He, too, was shocked by what had just occurred.

"Brody!"

Logan screamed out as he watched him collapse as well.

"What the hell is going on?!"

Logan asked me. I was too stunned to say anything. I could no longer hear anything beyond the pounding in my chest. My heart was beating too fast. The ringing in my ears was too loud for me to hear much of anything.

"DANIEL!!"

I jumped, finally hearing Logan call out to me.

"You need to minlink your dad. Mine isn't answering. He must be too focused on whatever is going on with the alpha."

I nodded my head in agreement.

This can not be happening.

After a while, my father came with reinforcements. He came bounding in with Axel present. He shifted immediately and went straight towards Kwen. His hand shook as he fell to his knees, holding his daughter. I closed my eyes as I held steph in my arms. He was still passed out. His father came running over to me, dropped down to his knees, and grabbed him up in his arms.

"What happened to him?"

Gamma Jake asked me, rocking his son in his arms.

"WHO DID THIS?!"

He shouted. The warriors huddled around us all, and some scouted the surrounding area.

"He did."

Logan whispered out. His father went right to him and held him.

"What? What do you mean "he did it?"'

Beta Luke asked his son.

"What he means is, Steph knew where she was. We tried to stop him. His eyes... his eyes turned a golden green, and he sounded completely different. He told us he would save her. He knew where she was. He came here. That's when we found Brody carrying Kwen out the water... she struggled to breathe. He said he would not let his charge die again in this lifetime... his queen. He walked over to her, kneeled down... put his forward to hers and whispered,

"Moon Goddess. Come forth and heal. He blew some air in her face, and she no longer struggled for air. Steph looked at me and said she would live and passed out."

My voice shook the entire time I spoke as tears ran down my face. Gamma Jake looked shocked and afraid for his son. He's never displayed anything like this before... not until Kwen. Next thing I knew, I heard wailing. I looked up passed Gamma Jake and saw my grandparents. My grandma collapsed to the ground as my grandpa held her.

"NOOOOO!! NOOO! NOT HER! THE MOON GODDESS CAN'T DO THIS TO HER! DON'T TAKE HER FROM US. PLEASSEEE!!"

I don't know what happened next. Everything around me went dark. After this while situation, if kwen decides to leave... I couldn't even blame her.
