She's human!

I ran back in my human form as fast as I could to reach the medical center. Doc had already mindlinked me to let me know everything was set and prepared for Kwen. I told him there were a few others, including my son and Jake's son, who needed to be seen as well, but Kwen is the priority. We rushed in, and the doc had a gurney waiting for her arrival. "Alpha! Right here. Lay her down gently." I did as instructed, and Dr. Mason went to work immediately. He gasped lightly at her appearance. His usual soft face hardened in understanding someone had intentionally hurt my child. She was innocent, and yet someone hurt her. He looked up at me with fire in his eyes. "Who did this? What happened?" His voice was deep, and his wolf, Canaan, made his presence known. "I don't know, but I will soon find out." He nodded, taking a deep breath. He began touching her body, checking for scars and broken bones. "She has a few broken ribs. We have to be careful with how we move and touch her. The slightest shift in one of those broke ribs, and they could pierce or cut something. She has bruising pretty much everywhere, and it looks as if she has some internal bleeding. How much of it, I won't know until I go in to fix it. She also has some fractured fingers and a broken leg... you poor child..." Dr. Mason moved around the gurney to check her body thoroughly, and I guess the magnitude of her injuries started to set in. He placed a finger inside her small hand and held her for a moment. Although they've hardly had interactions with each other, I could tell from their first encounter how much he liked her. His reactions and the reading off the list of her injuries had Axel and I hyperventilating and whimpering in rage. I roared out and punched a hole in the wall. Eveyone fell to their knees, submitting to the aura that was rippling out in waves. I wanted blood for my daughter, and I will seek it out. My father quickly rushed over to calm me down. "Brandon. I understand your grief, but you have got to pull yourself together. The doc and nobody else can help your daughter, my granddaughter, if you are this enraged, keeping them from their jobs." My father said, looking me in the eyes. I looked at everyone around me. I took in a deep breath, releasing my aura. The Doc stood up. "I'm sorry. Dr. Mason... just please... save my daughter. I don't know what I'll do if she doesn't..." "We're not gonna speak like that. She will make it. She's too strong to give up like this... She-she wouldn't leave us... not like this." I heard my mother say from behind me, walking into the medical center. She had stained cheeks from old and fresh tears, but I could see the war being waged behind her eyes. My mother is not one to be messed with. The fact that someone harmed one of her pups, they were absolutely wishing for death. She walked right up to doc. "You will save her, and she will survive. There is no other choice." My mother spoke in a finite tone. She turned, leaned over Kwen, and gave her a kiss, rubbing her cheek. She whispered in her ear. "You are stronger than you know, Kwenali... Moon Goddess, bring her back to us." She sat up and walked in my direction. She grabbed my arm and pulled me into her so she could whisper something in my ear. "She is a Chosen. Someone other than us knows this. You find them, or I will." I pulled away and stared down at her. My mother, a descendent of the Goddess herself, has confirmed all of our worst fear, yet I feared her threat of finding those who hurt her granddaughter more. My mother walked away after that. My father looked at me before following my mother out the door. That was his way of telling me he'd gladly raise hell by his mate's side. I watched as they wheeled Kwen away to an operating room, and then something clicked. I rushed over to the room through the double doors they rushed her into. "Dr. Mason!! Wait!" He came rushing out the room, halfway scrubbed in. "Alpha, you shouldn't be back here. Time is of the essence." "I know, just listen. Remember when we spoke with Kwen. She said that she's hardly ever been sick and the older she's gotten, she doesn't really get sick at all anymore. Plus, she said she's broken a bone before, which normally takes regular humans 2 months to heal from, but her's was 3 weeks... Maybe she'll heal from this, too." The doc looked at me and shook his head. "These injuries are more serious than a simple fractured or broken leg and a common cold. She could die if we wait and hope." "I know that, but I don't think we should cut her open without first knowing exactly what she is. As much as she's Minnie's child, she's my daughter as well. She has to have parts of me. You can reset the bones and dress any and all cuts and scrapes, but I don't want her being cut open. Not yet." "Alpha... I can understand why you'd want to try this, but as a doctor that has run test on her blood and it has shown to be just as human as the next, I beseech you to allow me to try and help save Kwenali. I understand what you may be feeling now, but I can assure you that that feeling will pale in comparison if she dies waiting for you to see her as the human she is." My heart shattered at his words. I don't understand... if she's a "chosen," then she should heal. What in the actual f**k is going on? What the hell should I be doing? I hung my head as tears made their way down my face. I couldn't hide them anymore. I didn't know what to do anymore. All I wanted was to get to know and love my daughter. She was a gift left behind by Minnie. She entrusted me with that gift and in a few weeks, it has been tarnished by my presence. "Minnie... please help me. I don't know what I'm doing with our girl." I whispered out under my breath. That's when screams were heard from the room my daughter was in, waiting to be operated on. A nurse came racing out searching for doc. She saw us at the end of the corridor and came rushing over to us. "She- she... I don't believe it... she was just and then she, but now there's..." The nurse stumbled over her words and the doc went racing into the room. I couldn't seem to move my body. I was too afraid of what I may find. That my anxiousness just killed my daughter. All my stalling and my rushing to have her, was now the death of her. I could feel my legs weakening and my breathing picking up. "Alph!" The nurse shouted out as, she caught an arm to help stabilize me. "ALPHA. YOU MUST HURRY!!" I heard Dr. Mason faintly say from the doorway of the room. I couldn't concentrate on anything around me only on the death my daughter had to suffer and so early on, because of me. "ALPHA!" I was brought out of my swirling thoughts by the doc gripping me up by my shoulders and shaking me. He had a look of concern on his face. "Are you alright, Alpha? Do you need some assistance?" He asked with worry. I shook my head and held on to him. "Is she gone? Is my beautiful pup gone?" I held my breath, waiting to hear the words that would crush me. But to my suprise, a bright smile broke across his face and a tear escaped his eye. I frowned in confusion. "Come with me, Alpha." He held my arm and escorted me to the room. I looked around after entering. All the nurses looked shocked, confused and in awe. They all stared at my daughter. As I got closer, I noticed she looked like her old self again. Her color came back to her and all the scarring was gone. The only thing that stayed the same was her big puffs being gone. My hands trembled as I reached out to touch her, afraid that this was all an illusion and I actually passed out outside. "I rechecked. There's nothing wrong with her anymore. All the bones in her body had repaired themselves, and the lower abdominal internal bleeding seemed to have stopped. I will get her screened to be sure, but it's as if nothing has happened to her. The only way to know something did happened, is the fact that she's still out and that her hair is still cut short. I believe whatever happened to her only worked on her body. Her mind still needs time to recoup... You were right alpha... she has more of you than we all thought. I've never been so happy to be so wrong. I- I can't explain it and honestly I don't care to. Thank the Moon Goddess." Axel howled in joy. My whole body shook in relief. I stood just facing my daughter, shocked that she was indeed OK. "None of you is to speak of what has happened here today. Doc, you and I will come up with how we'll plan to keep this secret. I don't know when she'll wake, but we're gonna need a plan for when she does." "Yes, Alpha." Everyone in the room said in unison. "You all may go now. I'd like to have a moment with her." They all quickly exited without a second thought. The moment I heard the door close, my tears flowed out in a constant steam. I wailed the hardest I've ever had in my life. I've never felt life gripping fear like that until this day, and it's a feeling I never want to feel again. As much as I was relieved, the fear that over took me immediately after had me feeling numb. People will be after my daughter now, especially if they find out she heal astronomically fast, even for a wolf. I have to come up with a plan to protect her. 'They'd have to get through me first.' Axel growled out. 'You damn right. They'll have a whole army to contend with and if I have to go? I'm taking as many as I can to hell with me.' I climbed into the bed and wrapped myself around my daughter, needing to feel her warmth and hear her heartbeat. I looked down at her, smiled. "Your mama didn't make it easy, I guess you won't be either."
