Life at the Kingsley Mansion soon returned to normal. Adrian immersed himself in business meetings and international travel, while Isabella resumed her duties as his loving wife.
But every Friday evening, she packed a small bag.
"I'm going to Daniel's house," she would tell Adrian with a gentle smile. "The baby misses me, and Daniel still needs help."
Adrian never questioned her.
"You have a kind heart," he would say. "I'm grateful your nephew has someone like you."
Those words pierced Isabella's heart.
Every weekend, she hurried to Daniel's home. The moment Ethan saw her, his tiny face lit up with laughter. She held him close, sang him to sleep, and treasured every precious moment.
One Sunday afternoon, Ethan wrapped his tiny fingers around Isabella's hand and refused to let go.
Daniel smiled sadly.
"He knows you're his mother."
Tears filled Isabella's eyes.
"I wish I could tell him."
As the sun began to set, she kissed Ethan goodbye once again.
"I'll be back next weekend," she whispered.
Driving away, she looked in the rearview mirror until Daniel's house disappeared from sight.
Little did she know, another surprise was already growing inside her—one that would test her heart even more than the first.
