Alicia “A girl!?” “What a curse!” “The lords have no mercy this time. The second girl in a row!” My brother showed me a video as I denied to believe my eyes, my ears, and every possible sense organ in my body. “So this…” I controlled my breaking voice. “I… I am a curse?” “Not for me, sis, no, but…” he looked helpless as he kept his phone back in his jean’s pocket. “This is our world” “World? A world where girls are a curse?” Maybe I didn’t wanna believe it or couldn’t. “Sis, you need to understand,” he sat down. “This is it” “So, you support them?” He looked down and, guess, I had my reply.  “But sis…” he spoke after a long silence. “You are a blessing to me, you are” I didn’t reply to him. I am a blessing to him, but he is gonna support them. How is that plausible? “You have to…” he looked at me. “Go tomorrow” “Go, where?” “The Girl’s mandatory classes” “And what are those?” He stood up. “Find it yourself” “Jake” I stopped him. “Tell me” “They are sending you to hell and you want me to tell you that I can’t do anything!?” he yelled with tears in his eyes. “Sis…” “Is there a way out?” I asked calming myself. Jake is a very sensitive boy. The only one who understands me. If anyone knows a way out… he is the only one. “No”  No means no. If there was a way in any heaven or hell, he would have told me. “Other than…”  I looked at him as a ray of hope flashed. “Running away. But that is dangerous. You could… you could get caught and they’ll kill you” “K-Kill me?” “They are only keeping you because you will serve others” he closed his eyes as I saw a tear in his eye finding its way down. “And who are ‘they’?” “Everyone”
