Chapter 4

Those words were like thunder to her ears and it sent chills down her whole body she couldn't believe he just said that to her without batting an eye but she needed not to show it before her body and action gave it away “Okay, so? You’re going to make me bend to your will by force?” She tried to sound sharp, but inside, she was still reeling from his words. “No, Lalisa, don't you get it? I am the one bending to your will by force.” There it was again, her heart skipping a beat… She underestimated him; he was a full-on player, he knows exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it. “Of course, why didn't I think he'd be a player, a total f**k boy with heavy and stupid lines. Why did I overlook that part?” She asked herself “But not today Damson, I'm gonna crush you and your big ego to the ground so you'd never bring it up before me ever again” she added while smiling at him but this wasn’t the sweet kind “Damson, you aren't my type, you aren't even close to being my type and the only reason why I am sitting down here and smiling to your shenanigans is because of my job, unlike you, I don't have billions to my name but I've got people to take care of and this job is important to me. So keep the bullshit on the low and eat your food so I can go back to my job and not get fired, okay? I'm very sure there are dozens of women outside that will gladly eat this up, not me though” she finally said while smiling and but at the same time hoping he's not the type to back up after a severe ego hit like this “I really hope you aren't offended by my choice of words I just feel like it needed to be said just for things to go smoothly” she added opening the dishes she brought for him but he grabbed her hand and stared at her with a smirk on his face “I came here to eat and eat I shall, what do you have here for me Lalisa?” He said dropping her hands carefully on the table and then grabbing a spoon to taste the food she brought “Which do I start with? This or that one?” he asked his eyes looking genuinely curious but Lisa wasn't buying any of it but went along with it “I'd suggest you go with fried eggs and sausage with pancakes, there's a little bit of honey on the side because I didn’t know if you were the type to take honey with yours” she said shifting a little to adjust herself so she could fix him a plate and their knees were touching even though that made her uncomfortable she didn't move an inch… “Perfect! Never had honey with pancakes but I am happy to try this” he replied digging into the food after that he fixed her a plate “As I said, this is my place of work I can’t be…” ************* Mary rushed in. “Lisa, your attention is needed in the kitchen.” Damson’s tone shifted, sharp as a blade. “Did I say I was done eating?” His voice dropped, smooth but laced with steel. The spoon paused halfway to his lips, and when he finally looked up, his eyes were a different man’s, sharp, dangerous, the kind that stripped courage from bone. Lalisa’s fingers twitched on her gown. For a second, she wondered if her legs would even hold her if she stood. Mary stammered. “I…I’m sorry, sir. Her attention is needed in the kitchen” The sound of the table slam echoed like a gunshot, making Mary stumble back and making Lisa jolt back down into her seat leaving both of them wondering whom he was talking to. “So I’m wasting my time here alongside hers?” He then stood up. A clap of his hands, and two bodyguards materialized like shadows. “Do you think she's still needed?” he asked looking at her as if he was begging her to say yes so he could use her as a scapegoat but on the other hand Lisa didn't just want to sit down and watch the whole thing go down and not do anything, she tried to open her mouth to talk but nothing came out of it. He was terrifying. And worse, something inside her thrilled at that domination. “God, what was wrong with her?” she thought “No sir, she isn't needed at all” She bowed her head and ran towards the kitchen door with serious speed, Lisa could swear she blinked and Mary was gone then she saw him wave the bodyguards and they went back like they were never there “Sorry about that, there's nothing I hate more than interruptions,” he said smiling and his face was soft and welcoming which was the exact opposite of what she saw seconds ago “When I sit with you Lalisa, I am expecting nothing less than your full attention. I have a feeling I wouldn't want to share that at all” after that statement she could feel how her words are caught up in her throat, how crazy it seems that her breath stuttered; her heart hammered against her ribs she then smiled and thought to herself “you must be the mad one Lalisa” she scoffed again “You can blame this on your single life because I don't know why everything he does turns you on. Hopeless human being” this time she laughed out loud “Am I missing something?” Damson said as she snapped back into reality and saw Damson enjoying the food in front of him while acting Clueless like he didn't just say something so catching and that annoyed her more “Yes, apparently, a screw up your head,” she said as she got up to leave. She added, “You must think I belong to you, but you think wrong.” As soon as she said that, he got up and asked, “Can I at least see your hair let down?” “Ohhhhhh!!! This man must be out of his freaking mind!!!!” Lisa thought to herself while clenching her hands, her nails digging into her palm “you must really think the world revolves around you Damson, but it doesn't at least not when you are with me,” she said with a smile when all she wanted to do was slap him across the face but she controlled herself and then making her way to the kitchen when he grabbed her by the hand and dragged her back to him with a little about of force making her land safely on his chest, he closed his eyes because her scent overtook his senses for a bit and her hands on his chest was the best feeling, you couldn't explain it but before she could completely pull back from him he pulled back first “You’re right it doesn’t work when I’m with you. None of this is planned, none of it is controlled. It’s maddening. But I need to see your hair, Lalisa. Just once. Then I’ll leave. Take it as a way to shoo me away, I promise” he said almost like a 5-year-old begging their parents to buy them some candy “I will take it as you are a man of your word,” she said, but her fingers betrayed her anyway, sliding the pin free. Her hair spilled down her shoulders, dark silk against her pale skin. Damson exhaled like he’d been holding his breath for centuries. “You are a work of art, Miss Walters, not meant for everyone's eyes,” he said as his fingers caught the strand clinging stubbornly to her gloss. He should’ve just tucked it back and let go. He didn’t. Instead, his touch skimmed the curve of her cheek, then hovered at the corner of her mouth, a breath away from crossing the line. Lalisa froze, every nerve screaming Don’t move. Her lips tingled beneath the ghost of his touch, and for one insane second, she thought, “If he leans in now, I won’t stop him…” Damson’s eyes flicked down, raw hunger in them. Her knees nearly buckled. She stumbled back, desperate to breathe again. Then slowly, she took in deep breaths to make herself look composed but Damson on the other hand wanted to grab her and put her back where she belongs just to let his thoughts loose but then he moved back also he had never felt this must attraction to anybody before and he knew then he was a man who was done for. “As a man of my word, I will leave these premises immediately. I hope you enjoy your time at work today,” he said, heading towards the exit door. Then, he paused and looked back at her. “See you when you close, Lalisa. Don’t keep me waiting.” “Of course, see you when I…” she paused, and she couldn’t believe what he just said, “what do you mean when I close?” She asked but he didn’t answer as he made his exit waving his hands to her “What do you mean see you when I close, you arrogant bastard,” she said almost shouting but he was gone “Ohhhh, that annoying piece of s**t!!! Don't keep me waiting?? Who does he think he is???!” She said to herself but soon enough she gathered herself and walked back to the kitchen to see what was going on. ************* Damson slid into the back seat, his expression unreadable. “Did you get a good angle?” he asked without looking up. The driver hesitated before replying. “Yes, sir. Do you…want them printed?” Damson finally extended his hand. “No. Give it here.” He scrolled through the screen in silence, one image after another flickering across his face. Then, at last, a smile curved his lips. “Good work. They’re perfect.”
