Melody was now ready for today. She had prepared her mental state for the worst scenarios. Her bag was full of stuff for University. She wears a small clip for good luck. “My little daughter, so matured and prepared today.” Silvia was proud of her daughter. Even though Melody was a 16-year-old, female fay is considered to be mature than male faeries.
When Melody flew out of her house, she noticed a thick smoke from below. It smelt like burnt hair and gasoline. The smell was strong and made Melody fell from the sky. Her wings got a little bit damaged. Wren saw her fall, he approached her before she reaches the ground. He catches her with his arms. “Mel, you really need to avoid the smoke, the vampires were burning bodies. I wonder how they survive the sun.” Melody almost fell unconscious due to the smell.
“Oh goodness, Wren! I thought that smoke would kill me. Thanks…” Wren quivers his head in disagreement. “It’s kind of causing pollution here in Marjorie island.” Melody watched the smoke from above. Its distinct smell was awful, she covered her nose and mouth with her right hand. “I’ll put you down. I heard the Vampire Queen is turning most of the Faeries into slaves. Maybe she is planning to build something.” Wren put her down slowly. Meanwhile, Benji approached the two of them.
“I know, it was against our will when she took over,” Melody told Wren and stopped talking when she noticed Benji was there. “Hi Ben, care to join us?” Benji nodded with a grin. Melody wanted to talk to them in private. “The Vampires might hear us. I think we should go.” They leave the grass field and decided to go to Wren’s small house. Benji, Wren, and Melody sat on the sofa made out of cotton cloth, wood, and cotton.
“So, what are you two up to?” He then gave Wren and Melody a handshake. “Nothing really… Why a sudden handshake?” Wren replied to Ben. “Well, that’s how you guys won’t see my bad aura. It makes you not scared of me like other doll-like faeries who scream when they see me.” Benji waited for the two of them to laugh. It was kind of awkward but he likes hearing a happy remark.
“Benji, Wren! Can you both join me to rebel against the Vampire Queen?” Melody sounded enthusiastic about defeating this queen and taking back their freedom. “What exactly will we do? Parade and rally at the streets?” Benji asked Melody, Melody shook her head. “No, they won’t listen to that. I plan to create a group of Marauders to steal what is ours. We will also cause conflict between the borders of the Vampires and Faeries. We don’t have much time before all of becoming slaves.” With her explanation both Benji and Wren were convinced.
“Witty, I like that idea, Mel.” Wren hugged her which made Melody feel butterflies in her stomach. “How about you Ben?” Benji just nodded when he was asked. He wasn’t that interested, unlike Wren. “Alright, so how would we recruit the faeries?” Wren asks her then she smirks at the question, she then took out a brown leather notebook from her bag. “We first need to do it in secret. The Marauder Faeries is a secret society.”
“Oh, okay I get it,” Benji says, he watched Melody as she flipped a few written pages. “I got a list of names on who we will ask to join us.” She removed the flower ballpen cap to write down what they need to do. She gently placed her right hand on the notebook while holding her pen. “Let’s see the list.” She whispers an enchantment on her notebook. Thus, words came out of nowhere as if it was writing itself.
“What do you need the pen for?” Wren asked Melody. “Just for some clarity on who will join or who would not join us.” Benji didn’t want to join at first, now he got interested because they can stop the vampires from ruling their world. One subject came into his mind because he was annoyed by Wren’s questions. “Wren, do you like Melody?” Benji had made Wren blush slightly. “I like her as a friend. Why?” Then Benji chuckled sarcastically. “Your lying. Melody, why are you also blushing?”
Melody placed a strand of her hair behind her ear. “None of your business Benji Arleen.” Melody crossed out Benji and Wren’s names. “Who do you think will interested?” Melody asked the two fairies. “Well, maybe everyone.” Wren guessed since nobody wants their freedom taken away. “I think we should be careful. Maybe it is best if only the three of us will be on the team.
“We need some witches or warlocks.” Benji doesn’t want the team to die if they cease after failing. Both Wren and Melody nodded politely. “Good, we need healers but I don’t know any of them.” Melody glanced at Wren and Benji before writing in her notebook. “I know some, maybe Amethyst Meyers and Dusk Gavrilo can help us. They are friends of my family.” Benji informed them.
“Alright, thanks, Benji.” Melody let the pen write itself since they already said the names of the witch and her warlock companion. “I guess that’s all for today.” She told both of them, quickly placing all the stuff she put out earlier into her small leafy green bag. “Mel, thank you for planning this. I hope this could help the Dark and Light Fay society.”
“We all need to cooperate tomorrow, first I have to deal with the detention from our university. Benji also needs to deal with it too. Then in the afternoon where the Vampire Queen might set her rules and apply her decree. We all will begin our plot to steal from her castle or from the Vampire Manors.” Wren and Benji thought about Melody’s plan. It was a fine plan although it is downright dangerous for both of them.
Without Melody thinking that the two faeries like her more than friends. They all are connected under a secret group of Marauders. Melody also had an idea to recruit other dark fay faeries: she needed to set a good example first before proceeding with her goal to save her species. She began to bite her lip, leaving Wren’s house felt like she wasn’t safe outside anymore. Benji came out of the door and noticed she stayed standing on the porch of the house.
“Have courage, Melody. You are the main melody and mastermind of our group.” Benji told her. Wren was left inside his house. He noticed that Benji and Melody were talking. He didn’t bother to go out of his house. He liked Melody more than friends. Frankly, he can’t tell her since Melody is an elemental fairy and he was a Dark Fay.
