“What the hell is this?!” Elisha asked in cold voice to no one in particular.
“This work is done by the two distinguished ladies here.” Grandpa replied with a mockery. The displeasure evident in his voce.
“Mom.” Elisha gritted her teeth.
Before Rona could answer, another person walked into the living room. The aura around him is too scary to describe now. It felt as if the whole glacier have moved here. The chilling dark air around him was too overbearing to handle. The frown on his beautiful sculpture like face deepened as he looked at the people in the room, especially one person, his mother.
Elisha didn’t bother to look at him as she was immersed in her own thoughts.
“Ian...” Sharon avoided his gaze as she felt a chilling sensation.
“Let’s talk calmly.” Ruthur managed the situation and made Ian sit next to him.
“Well, you never listened to me... I didn’t have a choice, but to take this step.” Rona spoke breaking the silence filled with thick tension. Elisha’s eye fell on the crumpled marriage certificate on the table.
“So, you would just take my sign without my consent!?” Elisha’s voice was colder than ever surprising everyone except one person who had similar feeling as her.
Rona flinched, but managed to maintain her composure.
“I know this is not a right way to do it, but how long should I see you like that? You are always busy in work. You don’t take care of yourself. As a mother I couldn’t see you rot away in work as a single lady with no love experience.” Rona hit her emotionally.
“My son is the same. No one understands us.” Sharon reacted with a weak voice.
“Everything I do is for this girl, but look at her, how she's talking to me. How did I raise her?” Rona wiped her fake tears. Elisha rubbed her temples trying to suppress her fury.
“All her friends are either engaged or married and have kids. But she knows only to work. She works 15 hours a day! She has lost 5 kilos in a month. I even tried the love potion invented by famous scientist. But nothing is effective on this thick skinned girl.” Rona continued emotionally.
“Because that was fake!” Elisha corrected her angrily.
“I know right. He’s 28 years old with zero love experience. All I want is grandkids, nothing more. And this ungrateful brat only knows to glares at me. He's even more think skinned, I even double the dose of that love potion but he became more colder and mean towards girls.” Sharon joined the drama with Rona. An excellent performance was on roll. Ian scoffed at her words.
“Mrs Harol have three grandkids in two year, and her daughter is only 23, but this brat will be 24 in few months still doesn’t have a single boyfriend.” Rona wiped her tears again. Elisha was left speechless.
“Technically I’m still 23! And stop your drama I know you too well.” Elisha glared.
“What....” Rona was about to continued.
“Rona.” Victor’s low voice was enough to stop her drama. He usually doesn’t talk much, but when he gives her that look it meant it was time for her to shut up.
“Our wives have done terrible deed without the kids consent. First of all, I’m against this. I’m not letting my daughter to be in a marriage with someone she doesn’t know or love." Victor voice was strong and firm.
Leo, Sharon’s husband, agreed with Victor. Rona and Sharon exchanged glances with worry.
“Who is Ian?” Elisha asked breaking the silence. Her eyes mostly falling onto the guy with rimmed glass.
“I already have a loving wife. He’s Ian Cirillo, my little brother.” Ruthur chuckled softly pointing towards his right.
Elisha’s pair of cold eyes met another pair of cold dark eyes.
‘How can he be so handsome? This whole family probably ate sculptures for dinner.’
“Let’s get divorced.” Elisha’s words shook Rona and Sharon, whose hard work was about to go down the drain. Grandpa’s lips curved up lightly.
“My dear, you’re rather quick.” Grandpa commented confusing Elisha.
“Well, the problem is, this is already legally certified, so you have to live together for a year to get divorced.” Ruthur explained pushing his glasses up.
“No way that is happening.” Elisha refused to accept such things.
“Ms Crosswood that’s how law work. In order to get divorce, husband and wife should be separated for more than six months or should have strong reason, in your case I doubt it, cause both of you are single since birth.” The middle aged man sitting next to Ruthur smiled brightly. Elisha raised her eyebrows asking who the hell was he.
“Apologies. I’m Ryan Headger, senior Attorney and founder of Jaw’s law firm. Where was I? Yes, since your marriage is registered only yesterday it’s impossible to get divorced right away. So, you can only get divorce after a year. And, did I mention? You must stay together during this time.” Ryan concluded.
"This is ridiculous! No away I'm accepting such absurd thing."
“What do you mean no way? You’re already married, my dear. Accept it.” Rona chimed in, earning a glare from Elisha and Victor.
“That’s right. You can’t get divorce, so why don’t you two accept this fact well and live happily.” Sharon said happily as things were turning out just like they wanted it to be.
“Sorry, but this not some child’s play, where you say kids to go play home now.” Elisha gritted her teeth. What she hates the most is being in someone else’s control. And being pushed into an unwanted relationship is even more hateful.
“You’re right. It’s not a child play. As an elder I have a suggestion. Will you hear it?” Grandpa asked with a soft smile. Elisha nodded out of courtesy.
