I jerked off from where I laid, my heart racing as I saw Alpha Theo standing before me. His devious smirk sent shivers down my spine and I could feel my heart curled up in fear, disappointment and agony.
“No! It is not possible!” I cried out trying to fight back the tears that filled my eyes. My hopes of escaping this wretched life with my mate dashed in an instant.
Theo's eyes glinted with disdain. “I see you have met your wolf. The Moon Goddess choice is a cruel joke. I refuse to be bound to an omega". He said while running his hand through his hair.
“You knew all along that I was your mate and yet you treated me with so much cruelty” I accused him.
Theo's laugh was cold. “What were you expecting? that I would wrap you around my arms once I found out that you were my mate. You, an omega". He scoffed, his voice dripping with contempt.
“No, this is not possible, this can't be”. I cried out feeling my entire world crumble right before me.
“It is very possible. Theo sneered. What did you expect, tell me, were you longing and hoping that I would do this?”
His hand slid down to my thighs as his lips met mine, but I immediately pushed him away, wiping my lips of any traces of his.
“You are so disgusting!!” I spat. The thought of his touch repulsive.
“Since you do not want a taste of me, let's get this over with before Mandell finds out that I was paired with an omega like you”.
Theo stood up, straightened the collar of his white shirt and proclaimed.
“I Theo Murphy, Alpha of the Moonlit pack reject you Omega Aurora Millers as my mate and will have nothing to ever do with you”.
“I accept your rejection and vow never to have anything to do with you”. I declared surprising myself, though my heart ached at the loss of our bond.
A sharp pain surged through my chest as I felt the mate bond sever. I clasped onto my chest and whimpered loudly.
Theo exhaled loudly, relieved that the bond that tied him to an omega for long was finally gone.
He then continued. “And now, I Alpha Theo, banish you Omega Aurora from the Moonlit pack”.
“What! Wait, you can't do that!”
“I can and I just did. Now pick up the tiny things you have and leave the pack before dawn or face the consequences”. A mischievous chuckle slipped through his lips as he strode out of the room leaving me perplexed, shattered and broken.
"I guess I met you at the wrong time," Maya exclaimed in my head.
"Are you regretting being paired with me?" I asked my wolf, Maya.
"I wasn't paired with you. I became your other half the day you were born and I exist because of you. There is no regret that will linger between us. We will face this challenge together ". Maya assured me and I held back my tears while picking up my other stuff lying on the table, especially my necklace with a half moon engraved on it.
Those that found me during the war, found it on my neck and since then it has been a part of me. I surged my bag up and carried it around my arm before swinging the door open as it made a creak sound.
"Where are you going?" Maya asked.
"I don't know, but it is long overdue that I leave this place. But it is my fate to experience unending suffering on earth and I just have to go on with it."
I strode out of the pack house in the darkness of the night and did not stop until I was out of the pack grounds. Outside the Moonlit pack, the city of New York stretched before me full of possibilities but none seemed to hold a place for me.
I rested my head on a quiet side of the street close to the trash zone and dozed off. I awakened to the sounds of the city and in few minutes, I was ready to face the day head on.
But I guess the moon goddess wanted to show mercy to me because as soon as I stood up,I noticed a bar by the roadside with a "Help wanted" sign. I hurried inside seeking refuge and work.
The door made a creaking sound as I pushed it open and stepped in. A full grown man was doing some cleaning probably so he could finally open for the day.
“As you can see young lady, we are not open for the day yet”. His gaze slid at me and drifted away back to the chores he was doing.
“No, I am not here for that, I am here because of the sign post outside”.
“Are you a rogue?”
“What?”
“I said, are you a rogue werewolf or do you have a pack?”
I got banished from my pack, but I will find a new pack soon”. I admitted.
He dropped the wet towel he held, and his attention was fully on me as his eyes slowly drifted to the omega mark on my left hand.
The omega mark was engraved when I was twelve years old by my previous Alpha and ever since then, my life has been hell.
“An Omega rogue wolf, This could end badly for you”. He said shaking his head.
“I know sir, but I'm determined to change my fate" I said.
“Are you going to sort out the fact that you are an Omega or a rogue?” He asked
“First I will conceal my identity as an omega and then I will be able to get into a new pack” I said more to myself than to him.
“Easier said than done, you can stay here. By the way, my name is Bobby".
I sighed with relief, grateful for the opportunity.
The next day, I visited a tattoo parlor to conceal my mark. At first the artist was reluctant about concealing my identity as an Omega, but after persevering, he complied.
Though the pain of piercing my skin was sharp, It was nothing compared to my past sufferings.
I resumed work as a waitress and at night, the bar was crowded with werewolves from various packs. It felt like this bar was a hub of information and secrets and Bobby, the owner of the bar, had so much information about almost all the packs in New York City.
After serving the last table, the door swung open again and a man in a large brown coat stepped in. His lips looked like they could barely take on any more cold. His skin was pale and his hazel eyes looked around the bar as if searching for something.
I grabbed the menu, and hurried to the table by a secluded corner where he sat.
“Good day Sir, what can I offer you?” I asked as I approached his secluded corner.
“Offer me yourself Aurora” He replied, his deep and cold voice sending shivers down my spine.
“How do you know my name?” I asked narrowing my eyes at him but a smirk curled up his lip seeing that he got my attention.
“Do away with the menu. I won't be drinking anything today. I am here to offer you a deal that could change
your entire life”.
I took a step backward, wary of this man and what he wants from an omega like me.
