We arrived at the Goddess pack, the largest in New York ruled by the formidable Alpha Magnus.
As we drove through the pack that is situated in a secluded area of the town, I couldn't help but marvel at the sight before me. I could clearly see some restaurants, clubs and theaters owned by pack members buzzing with activities even though it was at the outskirts of the town.
We drove through a large metal gate and we were finally at the pack house. It was the most beautiful one that I have ever seen. The mansion stood at the center of the compound made mostly with bricks and is painted crisp white. The mansion had two bungalows at either side of it. The bungalow by the left belonged to the Beta and his family, and at the right stood another bungalow that belongs to the staffs that works at the pack house.
Kate drove the car into the parking lot and we both alighted. “Welcome to the largest pack in New York. Welcome to Goddess pack”. She announced.
"Thank you". I replied trying to take in my surroundings.
“Come with me so that you can meet my boss first, she is in charge of every staff at the park house and also the keeper”. She explained.
“Keeper? Keeper of what?” I asked confused.
“You will find out soon, but she is someone that you should be weary of. She has the power to make or break you. You do not want to get on her bad side”. Kate warned.
I nodded. “Okay, I will keep that in mind”. I said trying to remember all her advice.
“Lets go inside”. She ordered and I followed her inside the large mansion. As I stepped in, I was immediately struck by the strong fragrance of rose mixed with lavender and incense. The blend of the three was soothing, setting a calm atmosphere as we moved through the elegant living room.
“Wait here”. Kate instructed before heading upstairs, the sound of her thumping could be heard. I took the opportunity to scan the room, admiring the leather couches, luxurious furniture, and state of the art technology.
Coming back downstairs, Kate returned with a woman who looked same age as me. Her heels made loud clicking sounds as she descended the stairs.
She stood right before me and my jaws dropped at the beauty in front of me. Her light porcelain skin seemed to glow under the chandelier, her deep blue eyes were framed with long, thick lashes.
Her lips were thick and delicate, almost doll-like and her nose was slightly hooked. She had short black hair, her Gothic style contrasting sharply with her fair and delicate skin.
“Is this her?” The woman asked. Her purple lips parting as she studied me.
Kate introduced me. “Yes Keeper. This is my distant cousin, Aurora and she has excellent cooking skills”. She added and I narrowed my eyes at her wondering if she was trying to put me in trouble. I told her that I cook but never mentioned any sort of excellent cooking skills.
“Impressive, She will join the kitchen". The woman decided. Kindly show her around. Also do not forget to remind her not to intrude on the Alpha's space. He doesn't take likely to trespassers. She warned.
"Yes keeper". I replied, lowering my gaze respectfully.
Her eyes darkened and she glared at me as if to access me then she strode out of the living room.
Once she was out, I followed Kate to the kitchen where a dark skinned girl wearing an apron was doing the dishes.
“Emily! Meet Aurora, she will be assisting you in the kitchen”. Kate announced.
“Nice to meet you Aurora”. Emily greeted me with a warm smile.
“The Alpha is having some guests over tonight and Jackie has given me a menu for dinner so all we need to do is to prepare our best”. Kate explained and we both listened attentively to her.
“I'm heading to the supermarket to get some seafood". Kate said before she strode out of the kitchen.
“Yes ma” Emily and I exchanged a knowing look before she continued her work.
“So Aurora, where are you from?” She asked as she worked.
“Moonlit and I had to leave because I lost my job”. I replied her like I have been instructed to do.
“So Emily, what is the Alpha's favorite meal?”
“Women!” She responded with a blank expression.
“What!” I exclaimed startled.
She clarified. “Alpha Magnus enjoys the company of women more than he likes anything else”.
“Oh! that's what you meant, but there must definitely be a meal he prefers”. I asked trying to gauge the situation. Having more knowledge about the Alpha's likes and dislikes will surely help me to accomplish my mission.
“He also likes seafood, he is a man of great taste and likes only the most expensive women and food”. Emily explained
“When you talk about the Alpha, you describe his taste for women like a commodity”. I said amazed at what kind of person the Alpha is.
“And that is exactly how he sees women, a commodity that should serve him well".
She explained and although I was meant to be scared, I tried not to because this was my only means of survival and no matter how dangerous he was, I still needed to get close to him.
“Who serves his meal?” I asked again
"That would be Lizzy. She's the only one brave enough to serve the Alpha's meal". Emily answered.
Just then the kitchen door swung open and a middle aged lady stepped in. Emily introduced her as Lizzy.
“Is she the new girl?” Lizzy asked as she scanned me from head to toe.
“Yes, she is Kate's cousin”. Emily answered
“Well, make sure she's ready to work. The Alpha does not tolerate mistakes". She warned.
"I will do my best". I assured her
"Good. Now go and freshen up and come downstairs to help". She advised.
“Oh! Sorry, I almost forgot about that, where should I drop my bag?” I asked
“Go down the hallway, to the fifth room by your left”. Emily instructed.
“Alright, thank you” I replied calmly. I picked up my bag and head down the hallway like she instructed.
Once I reached the fifth room, I twisted the door knob, ready to enter.
Suddenly, a loud wind erupted through the hallway. Just then I felt a pull tugged at my chest. It was as if the pull was calling out to me, drawing me in with an irresistible force and I couldn't resist the urge to follow the pull and see where it leads.
I tried to ignore it and walk straight into the room. But the pull grew stronger and painful, pulling deep into my very soul. I couldn't resist the force and followed it straight through the hallway, but it kept leading me further into a darker path.
My heart was throbbing so fast that I thought it was going to pull out from my chest, my head spinning and I started feeling dizzy, but I couldn't go back.
I came to a halt infront of a shiny, large metal door. The shiny part should be able to reflect as a mirror and yet I could not see my reflection.
I took a step closer. Just as I was about to touch the door, a loud voice echoed in the hallway.
“STOP RIGHT THERE”
I quivered and ran to a corner trying to hide from the unknown danger that awaited me.
