Elle's POV The first thing I noticed was the sterile smell of antiseptic, followed by the soft, rhythmic beeping of machines. My body felt heavy, like a lead weight pulling me down into the hospital bed. I tried to shift, but pain shot through my side, forcing me to stay still.
