Everyone is in the house when we arrive, including my father, who is clearly in a very good mood. As soon as we enter the house, he heads towards us.
"My beautiful gem, I've missed you so much," he says when he sees me, even though he saw me yesterday. Still, he makes me grin like a fool and melt against his strong arms when he hugs me against him and buries his nose in my hair. He may not officially be my alpha anymore, but my inner child still feels good breathing in his strong, familiar scent.
After hugging me, my dad reaches down and picks Laurie up, making a straining sound as if he seriously can't carry him, "What a big boy! What the hell has your daddy been feeding you?"
