CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
ALL LIGHT DISAPPEARED. Resing hell. The heady scent of the waitress’ flowery perfume danced around Rel in the darkness. The warmth of her hand was his anchor. She seemed to know exactly where she was going, and led him further into the dark. Rel had trusted her so far this evening, he figured he might as well trust her to get him to the other end safely, though he kept his hand on his weapon the whole way.
And plowed into her when she suddenly stopped. Faded light trickled in through wall cracks, highlighting the outline of a door. The woman opened it and tugged him inside.
“And who do we have here?” a high-pitched voice squealed in delight. Two clammy hands pulled Rel from his voiceless companion straight into bright light.
