REL STARED AT THE PRISTINE room. Carma’s breath tickled the back of his neck as she pushed closer to see over his shoulder. “May I ask what you’re searching for?” Marc asked from the hallway. “Nope,” Rel told him. The uniformed man dithered, his fingers knotting at his waist. “Sir, the room is clean. My team come through daily.” “D’they remove anything?” “Only the waste baskets, sir, and to replace items taken from the bar fridge.” “Where’s trash taken?” Rel asked. “To the incinerator, sir. Any obvious personal items are left alone, but trash is disposed of immediately.” “They been through today?” “I would have to check for you, sir.” Rel nodded, slow and deliberate.
