CHAPTER SEVEN MICH HUNG HER HEAD and slumped further down on the bench. The stark corridor was empty in either direction. Not a single plant, picture or shelf with ornaments distracted her bored gaze, and no one walked past to bother her with empty platitudes. Just as well. She wasn’t in the mood for inane chit-chat. The rented weighted anklets chafed. Bendal’s lower gravity, the same low gravity that gave the locals their long limbs and loose gaits, had her feeling frumpy and short by comparison. The additional weight required on her belt and ankles slowed her down, which didn’t help her current mood. The lower gravity led to a colder surface temperature too, and she tugged her jacket closer around her body. It’s b****y freezing. Her search of the cruiser had turned up no further leads
