27 Karen awoke refreshed from her night’s sleep at the inn. The bed was very comfortable, especially compared to the one in the cottage, and with no Dan coughing and spluttering beside her, she had slept right through the night. Even baby Charlotte had managed to stay the course. That nightcap had definitely done Karen a power of good. Stretching, she threw back the covers and swung her legs out of bed. The morning sun was already pouring in through the gap in the curtains, so Karen walked over and spread them wide open. Her room looked out on to the front of the inn, and she realised that, had it not been for a few of the homes nearest to the inn, she might have been able to see their cottage from her window.
