47 Seventeen years ago. The sun seemed to be shining brighter than ever before as they left the court and walked down the steps towards the street. The trial had attracted hardly any media attention, having opened on the morning of the 9/11 attacks and closed a couple of days later while the news was still filled with images from New York. The prosecution had seen Greg and Amy as their key witnesses. Amy, fortunately, hadn’t needed to speak in court. Her witness statement had been enough on its own, together with the DNA evidence found in the boot of Lewis’s car and the semen found in the body of Hannah Shaw.
