THE CHESS MATCH BEGINS
The main prerequisite of chess matches is an effective underlying strategy, as they may progress very slowly. In my case, I patiently wrote down the long list of my enemies’ names, and next to each, my favourite plan of action and the best way to implement it. I couldn’t help grinning to my resentful self. I was planning my revenge as an ordinary multilevel activity.
The worst thing – for them – was that now I intimately knew the crevices of their minds, by reaching beyond the range of my natural empathy. This was how I learnt that two things must have concurred to my death: their consuming envy, and my chronic trust in people.
The retribution would begin with the weakest of them, up to the most relevant ones – I would capture each and every piece on the chessboar
