Kyra: Happy 18th

912 Words
After Gran left, I settled on the little black dress I bought last year, but never got a chance to wear. Hurrying to the bathroom, I threw a couple quick Viking braids into my hair, and began putting on my make up. I decided to go for a black smokey eye look with winged eyeliner. I brushed on some highlight on my cheek bones, the tip of my nose and my cupids bow, finishing the look with black lipstick. I scurried back to my room, slipping back into my black dress, tossing on a pair of black wedges that tied around my ankles, tying the strings into a cute bow on the outside of my ankle. I stood up, and looked into my full body mirror.   I felt cute, but something was nagging at me, I was just a little too pudgy in some areas, my hips were a little wide for this tight of a dress. I could feel my anxiety over going out creep up on me, as I started to become self-conscious. I was not ready to deal with people, not feeling the way I do now. I pin straight black hair was the only thing that really looked alright.   At that moment, I heard the second knock on my door of the night, before I could answer, my door burst open, Ilea standing on the door way, grinning from ear to ear, “If I were a Wolf, I would eat you up! You look so delicious in that!” She said seductively trying to growl at me like a wolf. I laughed, “You look delicious!” I attempted to growl back at her. Together we were the weirdest couple of girls, we were both fascinated with shifters, and we enjoyed pretending that we were wolves when we were alone and complimenting each other.   To say my best friend is my soul mate is an understatement, we were two peas in a pod and acted more like sisters or lovers than friends. Ilea walked up, to me, wrapping her arm around my waist, looking in the mirror with me. “We are so hot; guys are going to be drooling over us all night like a dog with a bone.” She laughed. “Let’s go. I want to get to my cousins’ club; we have everything set up and ready.” She said pulling my arm, dragging me out of my room. “Let’s go!” she yelled.  Once we exited the house, Iles led me to her car, I loved her car, she had a beautiful Hatch back Celica. It was pretty rare for anyone in the city to drive anywhere, but we were going to the other end of the city to her cousins’ club. I hated to go to that end of town, not because it was a bad part of town but because everyone there thought they were so much better than everyone else.   We both got into the car, buckling in, Ilea turned the key and the engine roared to life. She smiled widely, giddy at the sound of her engine. “God, I love this car, she's going to serve me well on my trip to go look at colleges a few cities over.” She said while wiggling in her seat. I shook my head, “Do you really have to leave in the morning, I can’t stand the thought of you leaving and possibly not coming back for years.” I sighed.   “I told my dad, one more night of fun and I would leave for my college hunt.” Ilea said sadly. “I wish I didn’t have to leave so soon, but he wanted me to leave today. I couldn’t leave today so we compromised.”   After driving for about half an hour, we finally reached the club, there was a line leading all the way to the end of the block and around to the corner. Ilea parked across the street and we got out, I started to head to the back of the line when Ilea shouted at me, “What do you think you are doing?! We don’t wait in lines, it's your birthday.” She smiled grabbing my arm, pulling me with her to the bouncer.   “I’m the owner's cousin, the private party is for my friend here.” She explained to the very large and intimidating man standing in front of us. He looked like he could snap both of us in half. He nodded and unlatched the silk ropes, letting us in, I felt unsure of what was about to happen as we walked through the small corridor.   When we reached the inside of the club, I could see the whole place was decorated in purple and black balloons, which were my favorite colors. The lights were purple and lime green, moving all around the room across the dance floor. I could see that a few of our friends from school were here. I smiled at ilea and shouted over the music, “You are the best!”   We reached the group of people, and there were drinks already there, since we knew the owner, we didn’t have to worry about being carded. I smiled as I lifted a mango Margueritta up and sipped from it. Ilea shouted, “Cheers to the birthday girl! May you have an amazing night and many more amazing birthdays to come!”
