"You tell me—are you just being thoughtless, or are you truly ignorant?" Matilda narrowed her eyes. Though clouded with age, they still shone sharply. Vivienne held the gift box in her hands, but it suddenly felt scalding hot. The present she had meticulously prepared turned into a burden she could hardly bear. Her face flushed red, then turned pale. Her gaze darted around the room, yet she didn't miss the faint smirk on Juliette’s lips. A lump formed in Vivienne’s throat. Was Juliette mocking her? Laughing at how she had gone to great lengths, only to end up offending Matilda instead? Was she secretly gloating? Frustration and embarrassment swelled within Vivienne.
