A Real Alpha

Prologue - Giselle "How are the things in your Pack going? Any news about the Alphas battle? Because I would love go there, just to cheer up for you." Selie or Selena, one of my friends and an Alpha like me, asked me over the phone. "Good as always, our Alpha didn't decide anything yet..." Lying down on my bed, I answered, thinking how she was one of the few people who would tell me that. "And I honestly don't know why you would want to do that. It's not like I'm Noah." "C'mon, Elle. You should stop thinking such foolish things about yourself, and even Noah would agree with me if you ask him about it." Mentioning my other friend, she seemed more than convinced about what she was talking about, and I knew it would be useless if I tried to disagree. "But back to what I was asking, are you sure that everything is okay? "Of course, it is. Why wouldn't it be?" Despite my terrible attempt to lie, her silence told me she didn't believe my words. "The truth, Elle." See? As I said, but what else could I expect? I had never been able to hide anything from her. "... I'm not lying... It's as fine as it could possibly be while my Mate keeps hating me for whatever reason that only he knows, and my other step-brothers keep annoying me like everyone else in the Pack since they found out that I could be their future Alpha." Going to the bathroom, I saw my pathetic self in the mirror, and for sure, I would think the same as them if someone like me was declared a future Alpha before everyone. ... It was so shocking that it was almost a public joke... "He doesn't hate you, Elle. And you have a little guy, who is always with you, that can prove it." Bringing me back to our talk, Selena spoke comfortingly, but she knew it wasn't true... Aaron had never liked me since we met a few years ago. "How about you? How are things with your Mate?" Not wanting to talk about myself anymore, I asked her as her Mate, who was younger than her and blind, was also an Alpha from his family Pack, formed only by his father and him. "Good too, I guess? Well, I mean, Johnny and his father finally agreed to move to Nightvaley when he finishes high school, although his father said he wouldn't join our Pack until we became the Alpha couple." Even if it would take a while before they could finally be together, Selie seemed happy, and I was glad for her. "That's goo-" "MOMMY!" However, before I could share it with her, a young voice interrupted me as he jumped over me in the bed. "Is it Eddy?" And hearing him, Selena quickly asked, speaking the nickname of my sweet pup, making me smile while I looked at him. "Yeah," Not saying anything else; I just agreed with her before putting the phone against his ear. "Aunt Selena wants to talk to you." Smiling to something that Selie should have said, Eddy sat up in bed, removing the smartphone from my hand while little chuckles kept coming out of his mouth as he listened to what my friend was telling him. ... Taking a few long minutes before he finally gave it back to me... "I swear by the Goddess. He's the sweetest pup that I've ever met," As soon as the phone was back in my hands, I heard Selena comment more to herself than to me. "He really is adorable, and he's looking more and more like Aaron as each day goes by." Running a hand through his hair while reminding myself that I should take him to get a haircut this week, I agreed with her without thinking before my attention returned to her. And unlike any amazing conversation that anyone would expect Werewolves to have, we just spoke about some simple daily things for a little longer before we say our goodbyes... Her wishing me good luck with my Mate as always while telling me that he would come around any time soon. ... Which was a complete lie, and we both knew that as I already thought about it as something I would never have... Aaron had always been someone that I could never love since the beginning... My stepfather's second son was someone out of my reach before we even met, and I could see in his eyes how he didn't have for me the same feelings that I have for him. ... I was not even the type of girl that he usually liked... They were always tall, brunette, with gorgeous bodies that made me feel like a child close to them. Perhaps if I were more like Selie, I would have a slight chance, but it was just another lie that I liked to tell myself, after all... Selena was the perfect example of how an Alpha should be. She was everything that I wasn't as my friend screamed power and self-confidence with her neither short nor tall figure, which was quickly forgotten by the heels she wore daily. Yet even without them, Selie's presence was so strong that anyone would call her a Queen Bee just by look at her, and I didn't mean it in a bad way. ... She was what I or any other wolf would call a real Alpha... However, despite it all, I wondered how I had found myself in that situation... My phone alarm was ringing once more while I left Eddy watching a cartoon on my tablet when I went into the bathroom to see another test that just told me the same thing... Positive. I knew that I had been feeling bad lately... I knew that there had been something wrong with my body for the past few weeks... I knew that there was a chance it was that, but I couldn't believe it was true. And as if the whole Alpha thing wasn't enough, my life mess just seemed to become even worse... Oh, Goddess! What would I do now?!
