Nyx POV
I just had to do it. I had to fck everything here! I drank too much and now Caedmon is in the hospital wing. Luke and Zach rushed into the room and separated us. Theo picked Caedmon up and took him away. Luke stayed with me, he snapped me out of my high and I realized the extent of what I did.
It's not your fault. He will be okay. It is just a bit much for him right now, but he is strong. Trust me, he's gone through worse.
Said Luke in a warm tone as he placed his hand on my shoulder. Hearing him felt soothing. There was something about him that helped me feel calm, and I needed that at this point. He left the room so I could get dressed. Looking at myself in the mirror, the glow in my eyes started fading. I felt like the worst thing to ever exist. And I believed it. All I've known is that facility, the tests, the jabs and blows, the screams and begging, that is all I know and all I am, just another toy for adults to play their science experiments on. I got dressed in my usual set of clothing, a black pair of ripped pants, a black tank top and my boots. Going downstairs felt like utter shame. No one looked at me like they did before, but I could tell they felt uneasy. Their looks reminded me of how I felt when I was being moved from place to place. From a pod to a room, or to another bed. At first, I felt lonely. After a while, I was okay being invisible. I stopped caring or trying to look for some recognition from the same people that ignored my cries. They were there to harm me. Why, if I'm familiar with this feeling, why does it hurt now? I entered the hospital wing, waiting for Jairus for some type of information on him. He's there, lying in bed asleep. Through the reflection of the window, I saw someone approach me.
How is he doing? She asked. I told her that he was doing well. She was a tall young woman with red hair and bright green eyes. She was slim but curvy and looked me up and down even before she finished that short question. She asked what happened and though I didn't want to go into details, I simply told her that he had fainted.
I'm glad he is okay. He has been working so hard. Especially since you two came here. And to think that out of everyone else in the pack that could help your oddities, he chose to do it himself. I've gotta hand it to my big, strong Alpha.
Something about her felt revolting, like I didn't want her present. Not that I really care, she's not someone that I should pay mind to. That thought was the exact same thought I should've had in the first place. Lowering my guard for just a moment caused this! I was filled with different emotions, some that I couldn't put a finger on. Especially after I tasted his blood. It felt like it was calling to me even before I had a taste.
Jairus comes in and greets us both. I asked about his state. Well, he's a bit anemic, which was expected by the amount that you ingested, but he will be okay. By the way, Mishka, what are you doing here?
Mishka was her name. There was a bit of curiosity within me too in regards to who she was. By her being here, it tells me that she cares for him. Maybe they are a couple? (Stop! What are these thoughts anyways). As Jairus says this, Mishka turns red in anger and screams at me.
So it was you who did this to him, you btch! That's why he's anemic. You fed on him?! Is he cattle now?! You are a freak of nature that shouldn't have been here in the first place!
THAT IS ENOUGH! Said a stern voice. It was Willow. She is always around with Jairus. Mishka stops her rant and looks at me. He better wake up okay or I will end you. He is my Alpha and I intend to be his future Luna. I looked into her eyes and felt nothing. I told her,
I'm tired of hearing people treat each other as possessions. I have no interest in you or your life. I have one focus and you are not part of it. If you are so desperate, then make your move. I said this and meant it, but something felt off, almost bitter in my mouth. Mishka left and Willow told me not to bother with her, just another adult acting like a child. I looked at the window again with Willow and Jairus by my side. They reassured me he would be okay. I knew he would. But I also knew that what I did was unacceptable.
I went to the room to see Mila. We talked for some time and I told her what happened, as well as how I felt.
So what do we do now? We can talk to them when he wakes up and apologize. He should understand. You didn't have control. She is right. I had no control, or at least not much control over my reaction. I looked at her and held her hand. She knew something was coming and she didn't like it.
I promised you a safe place, and for me, I promised myself the sea. Tears started forming in her eyes as I picked up a few things. I laid in bed with her for a few minutes. I kissed her on the forehead and told her "go to sleep" and she immediately fell asleep. This is something I didn't want to do, especially to her, but at this moment, it comes in handy. I don't want her to suffer. Compulsion, that is one of my abilities. All I have to do is command the person and they will do as told. I picked my bag up and made my way to the balcony. Jumping from it is easy, and I've done it before when I jumped through the hospital window. The difference is that I didn't have to break the window at all. Once down, I spot Luke near a bush. He looks at me and makes his way towards me. I've always felt drawn to him, like I could trust him.
You don't plan to leave, do you?
I wanted Mila to have a place she could call home and I had no intention of ruining that for her. Theo walks out and looks our way. As he comes here, he tells Luke to go to the hospital wing for the change of shift and that he would take me back to my quarters. I look at Theo, who is so much larger than I'll ever be, and tell him that I just want to go peacefully. Naturally, he is not going to let that happen.
Mila is waiting. I'll take you to your room.
"You will take me to the town and leave me there."
I compel him and even though he struggles at first, he leaves to bring his car around to take me to the town. It takes about forty minutes and I'm back on the train station. "Go home and forget you brought me here". And just like that, he leaves, and I'm back to where I started. Only now, I'm doing it alone. I promised myself the sea. It is a reminder of what I deserve. I bought my ticket with some leftover money I had stored in my bag, got on the train, and left...
